Regional Planning OrganizationsWestern CT Council of Governments www.westernctcog.orgWestCOG is a regional planning organization composed of mayors and first selectmen of the 18 member towns in the southwestern and western Connecticut region and serves as a forum to promote cooperation among member municipalities. It also advises the region on land use, economic, emergency, and environmental planning.

South Western Region Metropolitan Planning Organization SWRMPO is supported by WestCOG staff and is one of the region’s two metropolitan planning oganizations (MPOs), which are the federally mandated organizations designated by the Governor as the forum for cooperative transportation planning and decision-making. The chief elected officials or their designees from the South Western region’s eight towns, including Weston, and directors of the region’s transit districts make up the region’s MPO. The First Selectman is Weston representative to WestCOG and SWRMPO.
