But, Im afraid that a lot of the lovethat goes on between men and women, in our day, fit Taylor Swift songs better. You know the storyline. They fall madly in love, one day, and they fall out of love the next. They fall head over heels for someone, and then they fall all over themselves backtracking to get out of a relationship. They could just eat that boy up, one day, and they want to vomit him out of their lives the next. That girl is just the best thing thats ever happened in my life, one day, and then shes just the worst thing that ever happened to me, the next week. Im afraid that a lot of love stories are like the soap operas on TV, more than the true love sto- ry of your Grandparents, who loved each other for years and years and years. And, when one of them died, they cried. They wept. They grieved over their loss. Because, it was truly a loss to their lives. Well, Id like to have that kind of a love story, Preacher. But, sometimes, its just not meant to be. Listen, I understand that sometimes you try your best to have a good marriage, and the oth- er one is just not going to let it be good. And, I weep for you. I know that youd like for it to be good. You wish it wouldve lasted. But, it didnt; as hard as you tried to make it. It takes two to tango. I understand that. God bless you. But, for all the rest of you, out there, who are still together; STAY TOGETHER! Work it out. For- give. YOU make a commitment to love that spouse, no matter what! Do you want to know how Grandma and Grandpa had a good mar- riage that lasted for 60 years? They worked at it. They forgave a lot. They were committed to each other. Divorce was not an option. They made it work. They hung in there. And, they ex- perienced the goodness of a lasting marriage, where the two become more and more intimate with each passing year; true intimacy. They be- came close friends. They became truly one. cont. pg. 2

MONTHLY NEWSLETTER | BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH |

FEBRUARY 2018

Our society thinks a lot about love. Just look at the songs that have been written about love; love between a man and a woman. There was “Baby Love;” and, “When a Man Loves a Wom-an;” and “Endless Love;” and even a “Crazy Lit-tle Thing Called Love!” Country singers have sung “It’s Your Love;” and “I Will Always Love You;” and, “The Dance.” So, love between a man and a woman is very important to people.

But, I’m afraid that a lot of the “love” that goes on between men and women, in our day, fit Taylor Swift songs better. You know the storyline. They fall madly in love, one day, and they fall out of love the next. They fall head over heels for someone, and then they fall all over themselves backtracking to get out of a relationship. They could just eat that boy up, one day, and they want to vomit him out of their lives the next. That girl is just the best thing that’s ever happened in my life, one day, and then she’s just the worst thing that ever happened to me, the next week. I’m afraid that a lot of love stories are like the soap operas on TV, more than the true love sto-ry of your Grandparents, who loved each other for years and years and years. And, when one of them died, they cried. They wept. They grieved over their loss. Because, it was truly a loss to their lives.

Well, I’d like to have that kind of a love story, Preacher. But, sometimes, it’s just not meant to be. Listen, I understand that sometimes you try your best to have a good marriage, and the oth-er one is just not going to let it be good. And, I weep for you. I know that you’d like for it to be good. You wish it would’ve lasted. But, it didn’t; as hard as you tried to make it. It takes two to tango. I understand that. God bless you.

So, you can have all the love songs by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and Beyonce, and Luther Van Dross, and Taylor Swift. You can imagine your love story to be like “You’ve Got Mail,” or “Twilight,” or “Tarzan,” or “Maid in Manhattan.” But, the very best love stories are Grandpa and Grandma, who have loved each other a lifetime. They’ve loved each other thru thick and thin. They’ve loved each other in the good times and the bad. And, their love story is a true love sto-ry. Give me their story, over some romantic fling. Give me their story over some flash in the pan infatu-ation. Give me their love story over just lust and attraction.

And fellas, show those women, who gave their hearts to you, that they didn’t give you that precious gift in vain. Let them know that they are a special treasure to you. Lead, men. Lead.

See you in Church!!

Hey Church Family!

The January snow storm hit us hard in the youth group as it caused us to miss our annual trip to Pigeon Forge to the Strength to Stand conference. The organization has been very gracious and understanding though and has offered to bring us to one of their tour dates. So, the first weekend in February, we will be going down to Lexington, TN for the Strength to Stand tour. This is a smaller and shorter event than the one we missed, but it will feature some amazing worship and phenomenal speakers. We’re praying that God will use it in a powerful way for our students.

Looking ahead, we are always looking for homes to be willing to host the youth for their monthly fellowship. If you would be interested in having a group of some of the nicest teenagers you’ve ever met over to your house for food and fun, please consider signing up on our sheet outside the sanctuary.

Likewise, we are looking for adults who will prayerfully consider coming to summer camp with us this summer. M-Fuge is a mission trip inside of a camp experience. We will be going to Nashville and working in and around the city during the week of June 25-30. If you have a heart for young people or missions, then you will be blessed if you come. Come and talk to me if you’re interested.

God is continuing to bless us in the youth ministry and we thank you for all the prayers. Please, keep praying for us!

In Christ, Bro. Josh

Hey Church Family!

February brings one of my favorite children’s events: the Awana Grand Prix! On Feb. 25th, our clubbers will be racing their pine cars. We’ll have trophies for speed and design. We will even have pizza on hand for everyone. It’s a wonderfully fun night and a great outreach for our ministry. Please be praying that God will use it to bring in more people to hear the Gospel.

Keep praying for us!

In Christ, Bro. Josh
