  3. 3. Religion Met at Kootenai Falls to worship Today, the tribes still try to communicate with gods at Kootenai Falls.

  5. 5. Where are they from? There was an upper and lower Kootenai. They were the farthest tribe North
  6. 6. Where are they from? Lived in the most Northern tip of Idaho. Also lived in British Columbia and Montana.

  8. 8. Fishing Fished in Kootenai River. Salmon was an important staple to their diets. Fished in canoes.
  9. 9. Hunting and fishing Skinned buffalo with stone knives. Had a deer hunting chief. Made buffalo bone chips. Expert hunters and trappers.
  10. 10. Food Kootenai ate many berries. The tribes subsisted on bison, deer and elk. They would much rather have fish than big game.
  11. 11. Clothing Clothing was made of woven bark. Some were also made of animal skins. Women wore deerskin skirts and dresses Men wore deerskin pants

  13. 13. Happening today The tribal elders hand down the skills and traditions. Still speak the Kootenai language. The Kootenais never lost sight of their original purpose Tribal customs and culture are preserved for future generations.
