Kororo Public School
Hello Everyone,
The students have settled into school routines and it is great to see them dressed with smiles on their
faces, in full school uniform, including the correct plain socks, ready to engage in learning. We had
our first Monday morning assembly as a whole school this Term and the SRC did a wonderful job of
leading and ensuring we stayed under 15 minutes, as a group. As leaders they continue to role model
our positive behaviour and school uniform. The PBL team have added some fun and effective lessons
for students to remind them of our PBL goals to be Safe, Respectful and Engaged. The staff have
been busy preparing lessons and assessing the students’ progress to provide student reports in
Week 10.
We are sourcing events and curriculum activities online to ensure students continue their learning in
all curriculum areas. Some of these activities come with a cost but our teachers are researching to
make sure they do have an impact on student learning. Where possible the school is contributing to
the cost as we know the economy at the moment is not at its best. Our online learning applications
will be used at home and school and include Mathletics for all students Kinder to Year 6 (sent out last
week) and PM Collections for Kinder to Year 2. (Sent out just before Covid-19) If you are not sure if
you have paid for PM Collections, please call the office to check if you have paid.
On Friday, we sent out the COVID 19 Parent Guidelines for Week 8 and moving into Term 3. We have
attached it again this week.
Excursions - We are fielding enquiries about the overnight excursions. At the moment we are planning
for the excursions to go ahead but this may change depending on restrictions at the time. Please read
notes sent by Stage organisers and return forms and deposits so organisers can confirm the overall
costs as soon as possible.
We have been advised that we may continue to go ahead with our planning. If restrictions are
imposed as we approach the dates, we will advise parents and you will be refunded. Thank you for
your understanding and flexibility during this uncertain time.
Thank you to all the parents who are now following the traffic plan and rules for pick up and making
sure students know how they are leaving school at the end of the day. Our new Kiss and Drop
arrangements are much safer and effective. Also thank you to the staff who are doing extra duties at
pick up time. Well done to staff and the school community to ensure everyone’s safety.
Have a great week and enjoy the marvellous winter weather.

Week 8 Term 2 - 17th June 2020
COVID-19 SIGN IN
IF YOU ENTER THE SCHOOL GROUNDS FOR ANY REASON, YOU
ARE REQUIRED TO PERSONALLY SIGN IN AT THE OFFICE FIRST.
Thank you.
We are taking registrations for next year’s Kindergarten classes.
If you have a child starting school next year, now is the time to call the office to give their details and to collect an enrolment package (or we can send this home with a sibling).
Our EXPO date has been set for Wednesday, 26th August and the Orientation days will be in Weeks 2 and 3 of Term 4. (Dates have not been set for this as yet.)
We will be posting out invitations for EXPO early in Term 3 so call us as soon as you can so that your child doesn’t miss out.
Please copy and paste this into your browser.
Uniform Shop
The Uniform Shop is open.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings
from 8.40am until 9am. Eftpos is available now.
A timely reminder to PLEASE LABEL CLEARLY your child/ren’s hats,
jumpers, jackets, lunch bags and containers etc, as we often collect a
mountain of them in winter.
We are trying to identify items with names that are faded or not clearly
written or old names from the recycled clothing pool. Please help us by
relabelling your child/ren’s items.
Thanks!
Next Friday, 26th June 2020 the SRC will be conducting a
Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain
Cancer Fundraiser.
Students are asked to wear a beanie and full school uniform and bring a gold coin donation.
6 Blue have been creating Triaramas in their history lesson while
learning about the 3 levels of Government
Mrs Sandhu is on leave from this Friday as she prepares for the next phase in her life. We wish her and her husband all the
very best for the future.
We will miss your wonderful lessons, infectious smile and bubbly personality, Mrs Sandhu!
6 Blue parents have been notified by a note sent home about who will be 6 Blue’s Classroom Teacher. There will be some timetable changes so that there will minimal disruption to the Stage 3 classes.

Intention to apply for Year 5 entry to an opportunity class in 2021
Dear Parent/Carer,
Opportunity classes can provide intellectual stimulation by grouping together high potential and gifted students who may otherwise be isolated from a suitable peer group.
New for 2021 entry
A Year 5 virtual opportunity class has been established at Aurora College for students in rural and remote NSW who will be attending schools on the following list in 2021:
https://www.aurora.nsw.edu.au/files/2020/02/Authorised_hosts.pdf. Students successfully placed at Aurora College attend their local government primary school and join the opportunity class for science, technology and mathematics lessons using an online conferencing system.
Students from non-government schools who are successfully placed will need to enrol in a government primary school on the list mentioned above.
Further information is available at http://www.aurora.nsw.edu.au/
Testing
Students who wish to be considered for opportunity class placement will sit the Opportunity Class Placement Test on Wednesday, 16th September 2020.

https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-5 You must not use the child’s email address.
