    Introduction

    In the early to mid 1980s, KPMG developed a unique vision about knowlmanagement captured in their concept of a ShadowPartner.

    Supporting clients was not just a job for people but one that required integrahuman and computer activity.

    KPMG needed to integrate and evolve their knowledge management systesupport their decision needs.

    Unfortunately, that vision was not executed at the time, and KPMG went one limited knowledge management system (K-Man) to 64 country-spedisparate systems.

    K-World

    They finally developed an integrated system with locally and globally manknowledge. Called K-World.

    KPMG has invested over a year and $100 million in revenues in developinuniversally accessible knowledge-sharing environment

    The main objective of K-World was enhancing knowledge sharing collaboration between KPMG partners, employees and clients.

    They wanted to leverage the intellectual capital of everyone in KPMG and enpractitioners to better serve their clients locally and globally,

    K-World

    K-World will let KPMG workers conduct active conferences and puexchanges, locate customized and filtered external and internal news, and acglobal- and country-specific firm information.

    Its implementation was so successful at integrating the system into professionalswork.
