They have produced a detailed and informative essay outlining a particular problem that they have researched – the destruction of the environment. The candidate is unique in their approach, in that they have used a haka on this topic to structure their essay, and their own thoughts and opinions on the situation. They have developed their ideas and used examples from the haka as their evidence, to produce a well-rounded, thought-provoking essay.

The candidate did not use the planning page, presuming that the haka provided that template instead. The essay is well structured, flows in a logical manner, and is clear and concise in its detail. A range of grammatical structures and vocabulary has been used accurately, with a mixture of basic and advanced language features.
