Session Outline • You could start the session by discovering a miniature fairy door by a tree. Explain that you are going to hunt for signs of fairies. • Grasp the children’s imagination and curiosity by picking up a piece of nature and asking what it is. (E.g. you could pick up a stick. The children may look at you ‘gone- out’ and say, “it’s a stick of course!” You can then demonstrate creativity by replying, “No it’s not a stick it’s a fairy’s wand…” You could demonstrate a few more examples as you explore your outdoor area. • Tell the children that they are going to hunt for signs of fairies in their outdoor area. • You may wish to provide the Fairy Hunt Sheet (Scroll down). • Encourage the children to think of their own ideas and make up their own fairy creations. Differentiation: HA- Can they explain why they have chosen that particular fairy description for the item of nature? LA- Prompts for descriptions.
