OUR BISHOP SPEAKSSHED THE PAST

Respected and dear brother-priests, religious and laity,Once upon a time, there was a shipwreck on seas. The survivors,after swimming across an angry sea, reached the shores of aninhospitable island.For many days, they managed to live in that deserted place, till theydecided to build a boat that would take them back to their homes.With great determination and hard labour, they worked for nightsand days to build a large boat. At last the boat was ready. Theynamed "SALVATION."Entrusting themselves to their "SALVATION", they set sail acrossperilous seas. After a long and arduous journey, they managed toreach the land of their birth. "SALVATION" had made it! Still to go totheir village origin they had to undertake a long journey overmountain and valley. But now at this juncture, they found themselvesin a fix. How could they forget and forsake their "SALVATION" thereon the shore and go home without it? After all, the boat had servedthem so faithfully!So, they decided to carry their boat home. They loaded their"SALVATION" on their shoulders and thus they started their journeyinwards and onwards to their native village.Unfortunately, the boat was too heavy to carry over the long trek onland. Their "SALVATION" now turned to be their "PERDITION." Infact, the poor wreckeds never reached home. They died crushed todeath beneath the weight of their boat!There can be no progress in life if we cannot shed the past.St Paul says: "… this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind andstraining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal forthe prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus" (Phil 3 : 13-14).Wishing you all the best in your ministry,
