YESTERDAY... What ’s past is past? 1 © Anna Trine Raudsepp Yesterday was probably the most intense day of the session. You spent at least eight and a half hours in committee work discussing, debating and fighting against sleep, agreeing, disagreeing and phrasing. Certainly it was neither boring nor unchallenging. Further- more, you all should be proud of what you have accomplished. Within a day you managed to cre- ate a resolution and that is something special. In order to familiar- ize you with the proce- dure of General Assembly, the media team performed a mock resolution about Daniels’ tanks (shoes). Hopefully, the fake GA gave you an impression of what you are heading for. We even had a per- formance by Edgars and it was certainly something special – a beat box. The official evening programme ended with some usual EYP games which will engrave a route in your mind. Do you remember “Al le le”, “Funky chick- en” and “Jellyfish”?

Yesterday was probably the most intense day of the session. You spent at least eight and a half hours in committee work discussing, debating and fighting against sleep, agreeing, disagreeing and phrasing. Certainly it was neither boring nor unchallenging. Further-more, you all should be proud of what you have accomplished. Within a day you managed to cre-ate a resolution and that is something special. In order to familiar-ize you with the proce-

dure of General Assembly, the media team performed a mock resolution about Daniels’ tanks (shoes). Hopefully, the fake GA gave you an impression of what you are heading for. We even had a per-formance by Edgars and it was certainly something special – a beat box. The official evening programme ended with some usual EYP games which will engrave a route in your mind. Do you remember “Al le le”, “Funky chick-en” and “Jellyfish”?

THE CLASH

First of all, it sounds cooler since it has two different meanings - a delicious dessert and an action of screaming at the same time. However, to prove that ice-cream is better than chocolate I would re-fer to its taste. When a piece of this pretty much the most important inven-tion of mankind appears in your mouth, you get a rush of coldness which increases the level of

adrenaline in your blood. When it is slowly start-ing to melt, a rather re-laxed feeling replaces it.Then you take a next bite and it starts all over again.Since ice-cream is made of milk, you also get a great amount of vitamins. There is no more need to force yourself to drink one glass a day, simply enjoy a yummy dessert. Furthermore it has a great range of flavours from a simple vanilla to exotic combos. Eating it plain is great but there are also many other options. My personal favourite is cookies&cream with car-amel on top which I be-lieve tastes like heaven. One last argument is that you can easily add choc-olate to your ice-cream, but shoving ice-cream into a chocolate bar doesn’t sound like a good idea.

I am sure of myself and confidently state that chocolate is a tastier, more surprising, sweeter and overall a better milk product than ice cream. There are only upsides for eating chocolate, it is even considered healthy. On the contra-ry, ice cream can lead to obesity, make your throat sore and hands sticky.Cocoa beans were discov-ered by Christopher Colum-bus back in the 16th cen-tury. Since then the taste of chocolate has evolved by adding countless different flavours and details to it. When asking the world which their favourite sweet is, I am convinced that the most common answer would be a bar of chocolate. The ‘’heavy weapon’’ for chocolate is its happiness effect. It is proven that a bar of chocolate can clear your thoughts and bring

the feeling of happiness. Another fact is that if you eat chocolate three times a month, you can add 1 year to your life. Undoubtedly chocolate is good for you.Concluding this clash, I encourage everyone to eat chocolate whenev-er you think you need an energy booster. Choco-late ice cream is already a completely different story. In the end, the more chocolate you eat, the happier you’ll be!

“Dear Agony Annika,

My underwear is pinch-ing but I am at the GA. How can I make myself comfortable without em-barrasing myself? ”

Pinchy Polly

“Dear Pinchy Polly,

There is this tech-nique called „pull and slide“. Find Alex Coates during the cof-fee break, he is the master of this tech-nique and he can help you to pull it out.“

“Dear Agony Annika,

I saw my fellow journo copying text for an arti-cle- what should I do? ”

Judging Journo

“Deal Juding Journo,

Plagiarism is a very serious issue. First-ly, try to determine if the journo has the „tutanators“ syndrome. If not, then approach the journo gently and let him or her resolve the issue. If they do have the syndrome- my deepest condoulens-es. Try to explain the situation to your edi-tors and hope for the best.”

GOSSIP CORNER

‘’I heard that chairs are eating unicorn doo-doos.’’ Believe it or not, this is the truth. Whatever these things are, I’m sure they kept chairs going during the session.

‘’The rumor has it that Ira (CULT II) and Niks (ECON) have a roman.’’ They changed the topic swift-ly when I inquired about this. This can only mean a positive response. Congrats to the new couple!

‘’It is said that journalists are not leaving their room because they are eating all the time and hid-ing all the food from delegates.’’ Well, as a legit member of the media team I decline this gossip. There’s actually no food to hide, we’re dying here…

‘’Jury member Kārlis Caune visits Turkey once a month to be Zeyneps boyfriend.’’ Kārlis’s response to this gossip: ” My trips to get there are funded by his other girlfriend there.” No further comments required…

‘’In GA some unicorn army will arrive!’’ Impossi-ble is nothing they said. Chairs eat unicorn doo-doos they said. The royal army will be awaited!

tant step into securing a new way of life.

LEO JULY 23 - AUGUST 22You are doomed to failure. It is unlikely you will ever suc-ceed in anything you want. You should try doing some differ-ent things in your life to give yourself a better chance.

Otherwise, you are still doomed.

VIRGO AUGUST 23 - SEPTEMBER 22Today, you’ll have a very tasty dessert. Some ice-cream may be coming your way. I hope you’re ready for this delight and will welcome it with an open mind. If you don’t like ice-cream then maybe some chocolate can tickle your tastebuds.

LIBRA SEPTEMBER 23 - OCTOBER 22It is clear that you like to take risks. Today you will have to take a risk to get a sweet reward. This reward will make you extremely happy in a way that you have never known be-fore. Don’t worry, you are coming towards a success and it

will blow your mind.

SCORPIO OCTOBER 23 - NOVEMBER 21Spending more time with that special someone is becoming a need. Your basic instincts are beginning to escalate, giving

you little chance to function normally around people.

sires but you will have to search deep within.

PISCES FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 20You may get the opportunity to turn something creative into something truly practical. Enjoy the comforts of your close friends and fight against your will to do things alone. In the long term you will need people around you who can offer you

many different things.

If the passionate de-bate at the GA has not fully occupied your mind or if you’re read-ing this during the dreadful hours of PED (Post-EYP Depression), perhaps it’s time to start thinking about your future in EYP. If you’re lucky enough, you get selected by our fabulous trio jury to be a delegate in the

Latvian National Ses-sion in July of 2013. If not, applying for another regional ses-sion (RRS in January and LVRS in March) is the road to take as it will be an indicator of your willingness to participate and not stop after misfortunes.

Good luck for your journey!
