There’s an old preacher story

that makes its circulation from

time to time about a young

man who shows up and says, “I

am a leader.” A seasoned pas-

tor says to the young man,

“Show me your followers and

you won’t have to tell me you

are a leader.” Leaders lead.

But how do they lead? They

lead by being a servant.

The word leader appears only a

handful of times in the New

Testament, but over and over

(100+) the word servant ap-

pears. A servant heart is the

heart of a leader. They know it

isn’t about recognition or

status or power. Servant lead-

his call upon their life. Serving

isn’t always easy, but it is in-

credibly rewarding. When you

don’t care who gets the credit,

it is easy for God to be glori-

Recently someone did some-

church settings when you get

something anonymous it’s gen-
