Even though the weather has told us it is still hard to believe how quickly the last
few months have gone by and that the winter break will soon be upon us.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our school community for
participating in our recent oral conferences. Your presence and engagement is a
vital partnership in supporting your child’s education. As a staff, we continue to
strive to clearly communicate each student’s individual progress. Our goal is to
inform parents and students about their growth, along with what strategies will
be used in the classroom and can be practiced at home. If you have any
questions or suggestions please feel free to give us a call, your feedback is truly
appreciated.
With the festive season around us, and many of us looking forward to
celebrating the holidays with family and friends, we want to recognize the
importance of community and the role the school continues to play in building
and supporting community. We continue to work at finding ways to ensure that
parents/grandparents and all family members, feel welcome to come and
celebrate, and get involved in the education of all the young people in our
community. We would like to thank everyone who has dropped by to visit and
volunteer in the school. Your support is truly appreciated by everyone at La
Barriere Crossings. Your engagement and involvement really makes a difference.

Now that the weather has turned colder, students are reminded to dress warm and not to arrive at school in the morning much before 8:40 a.m. unless they are attending the Breakfast Program.
When windchill values reach minus 27, students will be allowed to come in and wait in the foyers.
Indoor recesses will be held during these temperatures as well.

The responsibility and authority not to open schools because of severe weather rests with the Superintendent. Should he issue such an order, announcements will normally be made before 7:00 a.m. on the local radio stations. Information will also be posted on the divisional website: www.srsd.mb.ca . In the event of adverse conditions arising during the course of the school day, school will remain open. Students will not be transported home. If adverse conditions exist in the afternoon, a decision may be taken not to operate school buses. An announcement to this effect would be made to the media by 3:00 p.m.. Parents may pick up their children at the school.
CLASS CANCELLATION CRITERIA (K-12)
Blizzard A combination of:
• Reduced visibility due to snow and blowing snow • Windchill factors greater than –25 • Snow blocked road conditions
Cold Windchill values in excess of –45 Fog Visibility reduced so as to create a safety hazard
