Race 1 1. BOEING DU BOCAGE - Unshod on comeback race and associated with Franck Nivard. Leading contender

5. VIGNIA LA RAVELLE - Best to be judged on penultimate start and has a place claim if she can reproduce this effort

6. BALTIC CHARM - Well behind in earnings. Has come to terms with himself at present and should make an impact at the finish

7. AMIRAL DU BISSON - Good second at Laval in latest ahead of many of today's rivals. Must be included in calculations

8. VICO DU PETIT ODON - Well in contention for place last time out when disqualified. Not without a chance and can surprise

10. URSA MAJOR - Has worked well for this and has proven form in this type of contest. Respect

11. TRIPOLIA - Looks slightly outclassed in a race of this nature and best to watch

12. UNIFLOSA BELLA - A model of consistency and seems to have every chance once again in this line-up

13. TONNERRE DE RETZ - Ridden races specialist. All shoes on and unlikely to be involved at the finish

14. TROPIC DU HETRE - Disappointed at Vincennes last time out and has a lot to prove at present. Best to watch

15. AUBRION DU GERS - Won six from last eights starts and forms work out good. Looks hard to get passed on paper

16. TIGER DANOVER - Not much to like on form but connections are said to be confident. Can spoil

Summary (15) AUBRION DU GERS has been performing remarkably well since last winter and another sound effort can be expected from the Jean-Michel Bazire-trained. (1) BOEING DU BOCAGE is a class horse but she may just lack the race to compete with the former in the final stages. Others horses to consider in this line-up are in order of preference (6) BALTIC CHARM, (7) AMIRAL DU BISSON and (4) ULULA BELLA.

Selections

(15) AUBRION DU GERS - (1) BOEING DU BOCAGE - (6) BALTIC CHARM -

(7) AMIRAL DU BISSON - (4) ULULA BELLA

Race 2 1. AMORCE DES BROUETS - Won three from seven at this course. Latest form does not make appeal

2. ULTRA LIGHT - Has been enduring stride issues lately and unlikely to pose a threat at the finish

3. ULTRALITO - Encouraging last three runs but steps up in grade and not a priority

4. UN SOIR FATAL - Consistent performer in this category and should go close again

5. AH LA STAR - Best to forget last race and can bounce back with a trouble-free run

6. AUTHENTIC CHARM - Currently on the upgrade curve and has to be considered for gold

7. UNICMENCOURT - Ran poorly on two occasions since the new year and needs to show significant improvement

8. TILLEUL D'ANJOU - Obvious lack of consistency but cannot be totally ruled out for place

9. TEMPO D'ECAJEUL - No podium since July last year and hard to make a case at present

10. TENOR DU PASSAGE - Narrowly beaten at Bordeaux last time out. Has enough ability to overcome the 50m handicap

Summary (10) TENOR DU PASSAGE has previously shown that he can overcome the 50m handicap. He is an experience individual in the amateur's ranks and looks a sound prospect for victory. (6) AUTHENTIC CHARM is on the rise and could be the main threat to the selection. (4) UN SOIR FATAL has been thereabouts in his recent starts and cannnot be underestimated.

15. THEO PENEME - Obvious lack of consistency and hard to make a case

16. NAMALE KRONOS - Sound fifth at Vincennes last time out and should perform much better over this flat track. Has to be shortlisted

Summary (8) UROY has adapted well on french soil and should prove hard to beat if he

enough on his first attempt in this discipline to suggest he can win. He gets the vote ahead of hot-tempered (15) ULTIMO VINGT who should benefit from the switch to ridden racing. (4) AIDA DES VALOIS is expected to leave behind her recent below par performance. (4) AIDA DES VALOIS and (6) VIVA VISAIS can be in the mix.

Dark Horse : Vas Lulu (706)

Race 1 1. VOLINKO - More effective in a lower class of race and unlikely to scare the opposition

2. COEUR BAROQUE - Only three times out of first three from 15 starts but has more than proved himself in better company. Off since late December but not to be underestimated for his comeback

3. SPEEDY BOY D'ISBA - Has endured a poor year and no signs of any imminent return to form

4. VISCONTI - Solid horse that got back to his best just 4 days ago when winning over shorter in same class. On similar form should trot away with this

5. VESTALE DU GOUTIER - Good class of mare that has been enduring stride issues but with application could make a big impression

6. VEDETTE DES LANDES - Going decently so far this term and latest harness outings augur well for her chances this time especially with shoes off

7. AVALO MONTAVAL - Began the season well but below par last two. Unshod all four this time and should have a say

8. ORONTE DI CESATO - Not devoid of ability this individual however steps up in class and chances limited

9. UMESHA DE VIVE - Appreciates this trip and always acquits herself well at the venue. Possible place prospect

10. UPEPO SEVEN - Has failed to make the frame since last September and already looks outclassed

11. THEO D'URZY - Form has not stopped regressing since February and with the extra 25m to travel looks to have little or no chance

12. VESPA DE BOURGOGNE - Currently not easy to fault. Going close a level down but has earned her place here and can go close

13. TANTALE LE FOL - Off the boil since December and latest result do little to inspire confidence

14. TOPAZE DE LANDERIE - Alternates the decent with the less-good but can prove erratic and not an obvious choice

15. TISCHENDORF PADD - Has not disgraced himself since March comeback and is unlikely to be far off the mark

Summary (4) VISCONTI got back to his previous ways at the weekend and if still in the same condition will be the one to watch and with the in-form (6) VEDETTE DES LANDES fully unshod for the occasion, there should be an interesting contest on the horizon. If (5) VESTALE DU GOUTIER can overcome his latest troubles he should once again prove competitive however (12) VESPA DE BOURGOGNE is progressing all the time but the 25m handicap will do her no favours.

Selections

(4) VISCONTI - (6) VEDETTE DES LANDES - (5) VESTALE DU GOUTIER -

(12) VESPA DE BOURGOGNE

Race 2 1. TALK SHOW - Pleased twice from three so far this year and could yet trot in for a minor spot

2. VOLTIGEUR - Solid sort but less rewarding recently. Nonetheless has capacity at this level and capable of making the frame

3. VALIE ROYALE - Appears to be getting back in the game. Gave good account at Graignes earlier this month and should have something to say

4. TOUMAI - Lost his way late last summer but did not discourage from two return starts. Barefoot for the occasion and worth a small consideration

5. VISTA DE CARSAC - Can prov a tricky mare but useful under these conditions. Could get a look in

6. VIATKA - Improving all the while and has good speed. Steps up with legitimate aspirations

7. VALSE DU PIRAI - Has proven form at better level and although below part on last two is fully unshod this time and will be a serious threat

8. VAINQUEUR HIGHLAND - Highly consistent sort under these conditions and in top shape this year. Barefoot for first time and should make this his own

9. UT D'OSTAL - Likes the longer trip but too erratic of late to warrant enough trust

10. UCIANO - Has done nothing of note since winning over track and trip last June. Can be discounted

11. VILHISVINTA - Ended last season poorly and returned in similar fashion. Others preferred

12. TORNADO FORTYSIX - Won decent Class E event early May and despite latest disqualification must be afforded respect

13. VERGADELL - Has encouraged on last three and given the trainer and driver he should not be underestimated

14. URAMINO - Occasionally throws in a good performance and his latest start bodes well for his chances

15. UMANGA - Very erratic sort whose latest minor race second is insufficient to make much of a mark here

16. ULYSSE DU BOUCHET - Showed form nine days ago for the first time in a while however is drawn poorly and will have too much to do

Summary

(8) VAINQUEUR HIGHLAND is enjoying a fine run this year with three wins from five. He debuts with shoes off and will not be easy to overthrow. (6) VIATKA has a better draw and appears back at her best while the talented (7) VALSE DU PIRAI should once again make a big impression after two return outings fully shod. (2) VOLTIGEUR has proved himself in better company and has the capacity to challenge for a minor spot however (3) VALIE ROYALE is making decent progress and the draw will not hurt her prospects.

Selections

(8) VAINQUEUR HIGHLAND - (6) VIATKA - (7) VALSE DU PIRAI - (2)

VOLTIGEUR - (3) VALIE ROYALE

Race 3 1. BOLERO JULRY - No slouch at this level but disqualified last two. Unshod behind here and should make amends

2. BIFTON - Horse that has ample ability at this level although not always the most reliable. Encouraged 9 days ago when winning with ease at Thouars

3. BLASON - Better sort with shoes off and although sometimes erratic is still worth watching especially considering he occupies the 3-spot

4. BARRIO DE LOU - Boasts a 40% win rate and currently going well. Excellent position behind the car and at this distance has little to prove

5. BORN THIS WAY - Disqualified 10 of last eleven outings and no obvious danger this time either

6. BEUVRON - Has done little to threaten for some time and chances further reduced with shoes on

7. BOB MAGIC - Endured a poor month on the track but confirmed early May and should put on a good show

8. BIG UP MAGIK - Has an enviable record in competition and did not disappoint after four months layoff. Set for another big performance despite the wide draw

9. BAMBOU DES PETIOTS - Going through a particularly rough patch and expected to remain friendless in the markets

10. BOB DE NAPPES - Struggling to find his way of late and will need to confirm

11. BEL HOMMAGE - Not without merit this sort but has not shown enough of late and will need to raise his game

12. BABILLARD - Keeps passing by the winners' enclosure and and has little to offer in this contest

13. BIJOU LA PIERRE - Just one win and one place from 13. Unlikely to generate any interest

14. BALDI PRIOR - Very ordinary sort in either code but simply not up to the task here

Summary (2) BIFTON appears to have left a brief lull behind him and his recent win augurs well here, however (4) BARRIO DE LOU is back in business following a brace of lacklustre return starts and will be no pushover. (7) BOB MAGIC confirmed earlier this month and is expected to play an important role but if (8) BIG UP MAGIK can overcome the wide start position he should have a major say in the outcome.

Selections

(2) BIFTON - (4) BARRIO DE LOU - (7) BOB MAGIC - (8) BIG UP MAGIK

Race 4 1. BON LUCERNAIS - Not been getting home of late but in this company should not be underestimated

2. BONHEUR DE BANNES - Seldom disappoints and has been on a solid streak this year so far. Claim

3. BONUS D'ACANTHE - When of form is a better type in claiming company but last two disqualifications do little to inspire confidence

4. BRUNISSIO BELLO - Tricky but effective sort when racing barefoot and on that basis combined with the draw looks to have an excellent shot here

5. BE SERIOUS - Looks rather moderate at present. Has yet to recapture winter form and will have to show more

6. BOBBY NIVERNAIS - Useful type and although disqualified twice from last three has the capacity to go close

7. BOLERO DU SABLIER - When not disqualified tends to put on a decent show and racing unshod behind should increase his chances

8. BIGOUDI DE CHENU - Finished all his races and though not an obvious pick should be afforded some respect

9. BY ROCK DUSSAC - Disqualified on first race back since September and will need at least one more race

10. BOGLIONI JET - Lost his way 12 months ago and has shown too little since to garner much support

11. BOIS DE NECTAR - Has finished in the frame just three times from 15 and will enjoy little or no chance even in this modest company

12. BOSS DES COUPERIES - Showed good potential on only two career starts but unraced since late last summer and the draw will do him no favours

13. BRADLEY - Continues to blot his copy book and has done nothing of note since winning here last September

Summary (4) BRUNISSIO BELLO boasts a 50% strike rate when racing barefoot and with same formula applied first time since his comeback he should run away with this, although (2) BONHEUR DE BANNES has gone consistently well so far this year and looks the main challenger. (6) BOBBY NIVERNAIS may be trotting fully shod this time but he has the capacity and conditions to go close, while (1) BON LUCERNAIS looks the best of the rest.

Selections

(4) BRUNISSIO BELLO - (2) BONHEUR DE BANNES - (6) BOBBY NIVERNAIS - (1) BON LUCERNAIS

Race 5 1. CRAZY HORSE - Well-campaigned this year and seldom lets the side down. On current form will have his part to play

2. CAPUCINE D'AVRIL - Boasts a 60%+ win rate and has climbed the class ladder well. Benefits from a short spell and another big performance on the cards

3. CALLAS DU BOUFFEY - Useful filly that has been found wanting from two this term. Drops a grade and from this draw should make her presence felt

4. CRISTAL DU GITE - Occasionally the focus of the stewards but left a fine impression 12 days ago at Caen and should play an important role

5. CURLY LIGHT - Exceptionally consistent colt that has lost nothing since his layoff. Up to the task and should feature prominently

6. CASBAH WOOD - Useful filly but has shown little from three this term and even despite the drop in class appears to have limited chances

7. CATSOKETTE - A most capable sort that boasts a good record at the venue and should be afforded respect

8. CALLIOPE - Has been over a year since she last made the first three at any level and will need to confirm

9. CUP OF SMART - Showed respectable form for most of last year but little to write home about since and can be disregarded

10. CASTING DE CHENU - No stranger to this class of race. Pleased at Saint-Galmierlast time out and comes her fresh with legitimate ambitions

Summary (5) CURLY LIGHT is a colt that constantly gives his best and judging by his brace of comeback runs he could just have the measure of impressive Chartres winner (4) CRISTAL DU GITE. (10) CASTING DE CHENU is seldom far from the action at this level and the second row draw will be little hindrance with just ten starters. The talented (2) CAPUCINE D'AVRIL makes her first start for almost two months but will be fresh and could upset the apple cart if race-fit.

Selections

(5) CURLY LIGHT - (4) CRISTAL DU GITE - (10) CASTING DE CHENU - (2)

CAPUCINE D'AVRIL

Race 6 1. CRACK DE BAS - Intermittently shakes things up but pleased with success at Nimes early May. Better company this time and will have to show more

2. CASH BOOSTER - Has looked relatively modest so far this year. Yet to perform well at this venue and unlikely to influence the outcome

3. CHARLY DU DERBY - Has had two return starts and eminently capable of returning to previous ways. Claim

4. COYOTE DES FORGES - Disqualified twice this year but otherwise continues to go close. Hind shoes off and once again has potential to make a mark

5. CENTON - Well-regarded but just recently returned from long layoff. Not without decent place chance this time around

6. COCKTAIL JULINO - Did well at good level with shoes of for first time. Same formula again and expected to play a leading role

7. CRYSTAL WIC - Very capable colt at the top of his game. Won with ease at Agen earlier in the month and can impose again

8. CASH TONIGHT - Gelding with ample scope. Returned from extended absence with disqualification however could trot in for a minor place if applied

9. CAPITANO DE LOU - Can hold his own at the level but has looked not looked threatening enough to generate a lot of support

10. CONDOR DES VALS - Failed to finish in the first three for almost 18 months and no reason to indicate he will start a new trend this time around

11. CYBER WIC - Won a brace in March but twice unplaced since and with shoes on not an obvious choice

12. CHAUD DEVANT - Very handy individual that has gone respectably well this year and although not benefitting from a good draw is certainly worth following

Summary (7) CRYSTAL WIC is back at the top of his game and a repeat of his Agen victory would see him go home with the silverware. (6) COCKTAIL JULINO starts to his inside and barefoot for just the second time is expected to improve from his decent Vincennes fourth. (3) CHARLY DU DERBY makes his third start since his winter break and the plum draw should work to his advantage but (4) COYOTE DES FORGES has hardly disappointed this year and could run him close.

Selections

(7) CRYSTAL WIC - (6) COCKTAIL JULINO - (3) CHARLY DU DERBY - (4) COYOTE DES FORGES

Race 7 1. URANIE DU MORIN - Made the frame for just the first time under the saddle ten days ago and could get a look in if still on form

2. URISTAN DE BRENUS - Complicated but capable but up against better and will have his work cut out

3. UNO JIBACE - has raced modestly in both codes for the past year and can be confidently discounted

4. TIGER FEAT - Currently on a fine run. Steps back up to better class and still looks capable of returning a three-timer

5. APERO CHENEVIERE - Turned a corner over the last month and if form is maintained he could trot into the money

6. VAS LULU - Back on the ball since racing barefoot again. Little experience under the saddle but worth a consideration

7. ARENGA DE NERET - Just once placed from five in the discipline but if form transitions he could be in with a decent chance

8. TRISTAN DES LOGOS - Consistently in the thick of things. Has not disappointed on last three and will generate support

9. UNION DE BELLANDE - Very effective mare in this discipline and seldom far from the action. Has pleased of late and looks a solid choice

10. VISION D'IROISE - Made impressive return to the code after a year away and a similar effort would see her go close

11. TEMPLE D'ORTIGE - Effective at this level but with one modest return race under his belt he is unlikely to shake things up

12. VEZAC DUOPHI - Twice a winner from five so far this term. Appreciated the venue and should put on a decent show

13. TWIST VINOIR - Alternates the good with the less good but has ample ability on the right day. The extra 25m limits his chances however

Summary (9) UNION DE BELLANDE is in her element under these conditions and her latest courageous effort at Vincennes did not go unnoticed. (4) TIGER FEAT is on top form under harness and connections believe it is the ideal time to take advantage of his potential in this code.(10) VISION D'IROISE came good on her first start under the saddle for a year and should once again play a key role and although (12) VEZAC DUOPHI gives away 25m he is more than capable of making his presence felt.

Selections

(9) UNION DE BELLANDE - (4) TIGER FEAT - (10) VISION D'IROISE - (12)

VEZAC DUOPHI

Race 8 1. DAKARA DES VOLCANS - Handy filly a couple of levels down and has little to offer here. Others preferred

2. DIA DE LA BOATERIE - Just twice placed from nine and in this company will have her work cut out

3. DOMINANT ROMANEE - Promising type but disqualified two from last three and will need to show more application

4. DANUBE DE BOOTZ - Having showed some potential managed to open his account at lower level ten days ago. Big step up and chances limited

5. DAKOTA CITY - Filly with a lot to give and not to be too hastily judged for recent disqualification. Claim

6. DIVA DES BLEUETS - Opened her account in March but less effective since. Can trot in for a place if back on form

7. DUC DU VIVIER - Has twice pleased since returning to the track but will need to show more to make the frame on this occasion

8. DAUPHIN DU MONT - Justifiably well-regarded and although unlucky on comeback late April has the capacity to make a big impression

9. DON DIEGO GWEN - Sitting on three consecutive second places. At this distance a hardy type and should feature prominently

10. DOLCE VITA GRIFF - Made promising debut last summer and unbeaten from two this year. Expected to maintain her unbeaten run

11. DINO DE JILME - Has shown a lot of promise so far this year and if behaved can go close

12. DILEO D'AURALIE - Very consistent sort that is not to be underestimated and although in good company could get a look in

Summary With (10) DOLCE VITA GRIFF having won both of her starts so far this year and (9) DON DIEGO GWEN having finished runner-up three times on the trot there could well be little to separate them on their respective Vichy debuts. Barring a brace of sanctions (11) DINO DE JILME continues to go well and in this class has proven he is no slouch. The best has yet to come from (8) DAUPHIN DU MONT whose recent return was no disgrace and if race-fit should challenge for a money-spot.
