=> Déconfinement (i.e. temps de confinement)
Autres machines à confinement magnétiqueRFP, Stellarator (Wendelstein 7-X), Spherical tokamaks
Achievements Since the 60th
ITER point on the self-ignition curve to be demonstrate: mainly physics issues. Needed results have been obtained for all the critical parameters (density, temperature, pressure, currents,…) but individually.
Note: Only trace tritium experiments have been performed.
But work still ongoing on plasma scenarios.

ITERInternational Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor

EU Fusion Roadmap• Horizon 2020 (2014-2020 ) with five objectives
– Construct ITER within scope, schedule and cost;
– Secure the success of future ITER operation;
– Prepare the ITER generation of scientists, engineers and operators;– Lay the foundation of the fusion power plant ;
– Promote innovation and EU industry competitiveness.
• - Second period (2021-2030):– Exploit ITER up to its maximum performance and prepare DEMO construction .
• - Third period (2031-2050):– Complete the ITER exploitation; construct and operate DEMO.
EU DEMO is the only step between ITER and a commerc ial fusion power plant:- Produce net electricity for the grid at the level of a few hundred MWs;- Breed the amount of tritium needed to close its fu el cycle; and- Demonstrate all the technologies for the construct ion of a commercial FPP, including an adequate level of availability.

15 regions in the world, 2100 is the time horizon.
used to study possible fusion energy, and cost goal in order to make it competitive in some country/ region under selective scenario assumptions.
Not based on extrapolations rather uses rules an boundary conditions.The model “invests” in new power plants to accommodate population growth and economic development and to replace “old” plants, which are phased out after a specified technical lifetime.
Conclusion: 2050
