Emmanuel: God is with Us

Behold,thevirginshallconceiveandbearason,andtheyshallnamehimEmmanuel.Isaiah7:14On this last Sunday of Advent, we quietly re lect on the mystery. We rest in awe, in wonder, at how our God entered our world and came to be with us. We pause to receive the gift offered us: that the Spirit of God will open up our lives and that Jesus will really come into our hearts. May we have watchful hope today, believing what the Lord promises us. Let us pray today, that we might be God's servants, that we might be instruments of God's love for our families and all we serve this week. Like Joseph, may we trust in God and do His will, even when it isn’t what we would have planned for ourselves. May our inal days of preparing our hearts for the Savior help us to truly welcome Christ and share him with all those who have not yet met him. For He is “Emmanuel” – God with Us. WordfortheDay

Preparing for Marriage

Here at St. Mary Magdalen, all couples preparing for the Sacrament of Matrimony at our Church are required to participate in a series called “In Home Marriage Prep”. Through this model, an en-gaged couple meets in the home of a trained mar-ried couple from our parish to guide them through various teachings and helpful tools as they pre-pare for Marriage. There are 5-6 meetings that can occur during the months leading up to the marriage. More information will be given when a couple schedules their wedding.

Christian Service Center Thank you to all who have contributed to our fall food drive. We continue to accept food donations. Each weekend we invite you to bring a dry good item to place in the bins. These items will be collect-ed each Sunday night and brought to the Christian Service Center. If you have a surplus of oranges, lemons, grape-fruit or garden vegetables, please bring to the center at 701 Chevis Street, or call 893-9756 to arrange a convenient time to bring produce. Dry goods most needed by the Center: canned soups, canned meats, chili, canned fruit, dried beans, canned tomato products, canned tuna, canned vegetables, coffee, tea, pastas, sauces, evaporated and powdered milk, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, jelly, rice and rice mixes, vegetable oil, flour.
