OBSERVING SPECIMENS WITH A MICROSCOPE
Purpose: My purpose of examining objects with a microscope is to understand the form and composition of
newspaper lettering, a cork board, a leaf, and squamous epithelial (a layer of animal cells or skin).
Procedures: I observed the letters on a newspaper, a piece of cork, a leaf, and a layer of animal cells using a
microscope and its different magnification levels.

OBSERVATIONS
Squamous Epithelium
When observing the squamous epithelial we say that there is a white circle with a two
black lines that intersect each other.
Leaf
The small substances in the leaf were a white circle and a black line once
again, but instead of the pink dots, there were blue and detailed swirls beneath the
line.
Newspaper Letters
On the newspaper letter that had a blue with red font, there were blue splotches of a
wool over a green and red background like substance and over that is a black line
once again.
Cork Board
The cork also had a black line, but as the different picture, their was different red, messy
ovals that created a rectangle.
Onion
The onion had blue lines that occasionally crossed and was covered with pools of liquid. The
black line was also present.
Michaels Cheek Cells
There was a white circle with a few gray marks throughout the circle.

PATTERNSI realized that in every slide but the cheek cell, there was a black line over the parts of the specimen.
CONCLUSIONBased on my data and observations, I concluded that each specimen was made up of extremely small particles
that are intertwined to create a certain object. For example, small pink objects adjoin together to make a leaf
piece.
