Dear Parents and Carers, The young men and women in the Secondary Learning Area continue to grow from strength to strength and each and every day staff are able to identify progress in students’ learning, confidence and self-esteem. We are very proud of how well our students, new to the learning area, have settled in and how hard they are working. Ceres Environment Park and Gardening 14 of our students have been thoroughly enjoying spending Tuesdays at Ceres Environment Park undertaking horticultural training. Our students have conducted themselves maturely and are learning such a lot in every session. All the students have been doing a great job in looking after two garden areas back at school too. In the outside area behind Rooms 10 and 11 we have herbs and succulents growing, Rooms 8 and 9 are growing lettuce, tomatoes and spinach in planters near their rooms. In Projects with Purpose students have creating beautiful mosaics, birdhouses and outdoor decorations to add to the environment outside. Canteen The Canteen program is well and truly up and running this term. Students are engaged in all the elements of preparing lunch orders for the school on Fridays. From deciding and planning what to cook to writing shopping lists to undertaking the shopping to delivering the order forms to each class independently and then collating orders, preparing the food and delivering it all correctly it provides a wide range of skills for students to learn. SPICE Students have been working in small groups to develop their skills in the social, physical, intellectual, communication and emotional areas of their lives. Staff work hard to develop mindfulness, proprioception, Proloquo2go and group work activities to support students in this important learning that will assist them to find success in their lives after school. International Women’s Day Wishing all of you a very happy International Women’s Day! I believe this is a fantastic opportunity to thank and celebrate the amazing women who enrich our students’ lives and inspire us every day. The staff celebrated with a morning tea in the staffroom yesterday and Ashwini and I attended the Bastow International Women’s Day event where we enjoyed a key note speech by Mariam Issa and a panel discussion with a diverse range of speakers looking at the important role education plays in providing opportunities for girls and young women .Wishing all of you a fantastic long weekend. Dear Parents and Carers,

The young men and women in the Secondary Learning Area continue to grow from strength to strength and each and every day staff are able to identify progress in students’ learning, confidence and self-esteem. We are very proud of how well our students, new to the learning area, have settled in and how hard they are working.

Ceres Environment Park and Gardening

14 of our students have been thoroughly enjoying spending Tuesdays at Ceres Environment Park undertaking horticultural training.

Canteen

The Canteen program is well and truly up and running this term.

SPICE

Students have been working in small groups to develop their skills in the social, physical, intellectual, communication and emotional areas of their lives. Staff work hard to develop mindfulness, proprioception, Proloquo2go and group work activities to support students in this important learning that will assist them to find success in their lives after school.

International Women’s Day

Wishing all of you a very happy International Women’s Day!

The students in Room 8 have been busy with various activities. We’ve been practicing communication with Proloquo2go, Numeracy activities, Café, Canteen, Reading and Writing. Everyone’s worked hard the last few weeks and they have demonstrated lots of flexibility in transitioning from the different programs throughout the day. Well done to all the boys in Room 8!
