Welcome toThe Lace Market Theatre’s

40th Anniversary Season in Halifax Place

Hello and welcome to the Lace Market Theatre's 2012/13 season.

It is with great pride that the Artistic Group and I present what we feel sure will be a challenging, engaging and popular season, both for our loyal audience andfor the amazing creative teams who put such time and passion into producing high quality productions.

Programming an entire year of theatre is a balancing act of daunting proportions;finding plays that will appeal to a broad range of audiences whilst staying true tothe hard earned Lace Market Theatre reputation for producing the sort of work that other theatres might not be courageous enough to attempt.

To this end I am proud to have led a team that has chosen to programme playssuch as Bent, Five Kinds of Silence and Women of Troy alongside work by Noel Coward, Cole Porter, Terence Rattigan and even Terry Pratchett®. I am alsothrilled we are able to stage All My Sons and The 39 Steps - both wonderful and very different pieces of theatre and both of which we have been granted special permission to produce.

There is something in this season for everyone. From the beautiful On GoldenPond and On Tidy Endings through the mystery and magic of the ArabianNights to the hilarious modern comedy in Female of the Species and EltonJohn's Glasses.

You may also notice a healthy mix of familiar and new names taking on the role of director for our productions - something which bodes well for a balanced yetexciting and unpredictable season.

We have also decided to try something different this season for the talkbacks. The 2012/13 season will see the talkbacks taking place immediately following the Friday night performance of each production. Please do stay after the shows on a Friday for a light hearted and informal discussion with the directorsand casts about the play and your thoughts about it.

So we proudly present the Lace Market Theatre's 2012/13 season. If you haveeven half as much fun engaging with it as we have had putting it together then a great year of theatre going and theatre making lies ahead. We commend it tothe house.
