Aftertheprocessionandonceeveryoneisseated,introductoryremarks,theinvocation,theNationalAnthem,welcomeremarks,presentations,andvariousspeechesfollow.Thepresentationofdiplomastakesplaceneartheendoftheceremonyafterdegreesareofficiallyconferred.TheAcademicDeanswillannouncegraduationcandidatesinalphabeticalorderbymajor.Besurethatyouareinproperorderaccordingtothemarchinglistthatwillbemadeavailabletoyou,andfollowthedirectionsofthefacultymarshalsasyouapproachthestage.Asyouproceedacrossthestage,youwillreceiveadiplomacovercontainingawelcomeannouncementfromtheLackawannaCollegeAlumniAssociation.

Afterallgraduateshavereceiveddiplomas,thealumnimessageandbenedictionwillbegiven.Whentheceremonyconcludes,theorganistwillbegintoplaytherecessional,andthestageparty,faculty,administration,andgraduateswillexitthegymnasiumandcontinuedownstairstotheStudentUnionLounge,wheretheywilljointheirfamiliesandfriendsforareceptiongivenbytheAlumniAssociation.

CongratulationsonyourupcominggraduationfromLackawannaCollege.Yourhardworkandcommitmenttolearningmakeyourdegreeawell-earnedreward. WewouldliketoexplainhowLackawannaCollege’sOfficeofExternalRelationswillhandlegraduationannouncementsinlocalnewspapers.Ourgoalistohelpyoureceivetherecognitionyoudeserve,whetheryouliveinNortheasternPennsylvaniaorresideinanotherstate.

OnthedayofCommencement,adescriptionoftheeventandthenamesandhometownsofallofthegraduateswillbedistributedtothedailynewspapersinLackawannaandLuzernecounties.Theynormallycarrythestorywiththenamesofthegraduateswithintheircirculationarea.Forgraduatesofoursatellitecenters(Hazleton,LakeRegion,TheSchoolofPNG,andTowanda),weforwardthestoryandnamestotheDirectorsoftheCenterswhoadaptthisinformationforlocaldistribution.Unfortunately,duetospacerestrictions,theyoftenomitthenamesofgraduatesfromareasoutsidetheircirculationorthoseoutofstate.
