General information:

Use as symptomatic treatment or prevention of acne in adults, and children. Lactopad is a dried form of cell-free supernatant of a probiotic culture, the lactic acid bacterium Enterococcus faecalis SL5, with an antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes, a key causative agent of acne.

Lactopad has a selective property, that is, it kills only target microbes selectively. Mechanism: Lactopad has simple primary structure that is composed of polypeptide

chain. Hydrophobic aminoterminal end of the peptides enter the cell membrane and makes a hole, and it kill the target microbes by changing the membrane potential. Please refer to clinical study:

1. Antimicrobial Activity of Enterocins from Enterococcus faecalis SL-5 against Propionibacterium acnes, the Causative Agent in Acne Vulgaris, and its Therapeutic Effect (ID 6A)

2. CBT-SL5, a Bacteriocin from Enterococcus faecalis, Suppresses the Expression of Interleukin-8 Induced by Propionibacterium acnes in Cultured Human Keratinocytes (ID 6B)
