Friday night’s game was definitely a game of two halves. Idon’t think we moved the ball around as well as they did aswe took 40 minutes to settle and we are lucky not to getpunished for it. Broadbeach has more than enough chancesto end the game but I believe we came out playing a betterbrand of football in the second half, creating enough chancesto score the goals we did to finish the game.

I thought we played well and had enough chances to winthree games if we had taken them. We just needed that bitof luck going forward and we are disappointed with ourfinishing. In the last 10 minutes we were disappointed withour temperament but overall it was a good performancefrom our boys. With a bit of clinical finishing and luck on ourside it could have been a different result.

To get a point against Murwillumbah to most people wouldbe a good result but to be honest it felt like a loss to me andmy players. Having worked so hard and against seeing thegame decided by some crazy decisions that effected bothteams. The game itself was end to end and I thought a creditto both teams. There were mistakes from both sides andfrom a coaching point of view it is a bit of a concern. Icongratulate my lads on the total commitment they continueto give me each week.

It was not an entertaining game even though therewere six goals scored and three players sent off. Adraw was the right result on the night. We need tohave more discipline out on the park and not playwith disregard on turning our possession over soeasily. We need to be clinical when we have somany chances

Magic came out with a point to prove and with the quality ofplayers they have they will always hurt you if you are not onyour game. We had enough chances to get something fromthe game and both sides played good football throughoutthe 90 minutes. They seemed to want the game more thanus and managed to hang on for all 3 points so credit to them.

It was good to get our first win on the weekend away fromhome but we still have some improvement to go. We letthem back in the game twice but they had their chances aswell throughout the 90 minutes. Overall we are happy to getaway with a win and hopefully we can continue to build onthis. We have had four games now so there are no excusesfrom our point of view here on in.

The Knights game in the FFA Cup was two teams going headto head who like to play similar styles. They try to keep theball like us and be patient. When it is time to attack bothsides can hurt teams going forward. They are a good teamand fair play to them. We played a few youngers players andwe were happy with the way they stood up, we just need tokeep moving forward now.

I thought it was a good game contested between two strongteams. We went up 1-0 and like all good teams they cameback. We went by two again but Palm Beach never gave upfor the entire 90 minutes. It was a good performance fromour side and we are happy to go through to the next roundand get the win.

I was proud of the lads on how they performed on the shortturn around. At 1-0 down we created enough opportunitiesto win the game. Overall it was a solid game from bothteams and it was disheartening to have a goal disallowedwith two minutes to go only for Surfers to capitalise with apenalty and seal the game. We took the game to them andshowed that we have lads capable of stepping up in the biggames when needed.

Our FFA Cup showed both squads missing players that were not100% fit. Broadbeach did well to keep us at bay for the first 45minutes as we played most of the first half in there half. Notbeing able to penetrate them and keep the ball on the deck wasdefinitely the case. With all the players missing on their end theystill gave us a red hot go and shows that Broadbeach have stillgot what it takes in both grades. The last 25 minutes we finishedwith a screamer of a goal from Brandon Gomez and then apenalty finished by Bruno. It was nice to get our second win ofthe FFA Cup.

We will need to be up to scratch from the first minuteagainst Burleigh. From now I think individual errors will loseus games and not as a collective team unit. Garlo will havehis team set out and up for the game. It will be up for us tobreak them down. I am not sure on the personnel he has inhis squad as I haven’t seen them play, but I know I canexpect an organised team that will be tough to break downthroughout the 90 minutes.

Burleigh Heads

Keith Garland- Pre-Match Comments

We are improving week to week and I ask my players for 100%every time we step onto a field. We will hopefully correct somebasic errors which we are being punished for and if teams starttaking us lightly as we go on they might be surprised. We playMagic Friday night and it is going to be another good test togauge where we are at especially with their quality. I was quitesurprised by them not picking up any points in their first threegames but after beating a very good Palm Beach side at theweekend, we know it is going to be tough to get anything fromthis game. They will now be full of confidence and will bepushing for top 4 spot, so for us its another challenge we willlook forward to.

Murwillumbah

Dean Milosevic- Pre-Match Comments

Coomera have had a slow start to the season ashave we. They will be wanting to come down andtake the points from us. It will definitely be a battlefor the duration of the 90 minutes as there aresimply on easy games in our competition. We needto be focused from the first minute if we are to getmaximum points from this clash.

Coomera

John Duthie- Pre-Match Comments

Anytime you play Murwillumbah it’s going to be tough, particularly away from home. Dean will have his team wellprepared for this game as it is a very important game forboth clubs. We are looking for our first points of the seasonand Dean will want some breathing space so it looks to be acracker of a game. Our week off due to poor pitch conditionshas given some of our injured players a chance to get overtheir injuries. We’ll give some of our younger players achance to shine and prove themselves.

Palm Beach

Kris Dodd- Pre-Match Comments

Surfers are not top of the table for no reason. They are aprofessional outfit in the way the players repay their respectto the club for the almost royalty way they are treated. Weneed to turn up and keep playing the way we have all seasonbecause we are an attacking team. If we take our chances Ibelieve we are going to upset some teams this yearthroughout the course of the season.

Surfers Paradise

David Benigno- Pre-Match Comments

This Saturday’s game with weather permitting will beanother round against another competitive team. Kris is agood friend of mine and has set up his squad really well withthe personnel he has brought in. We will be cautious fromthe first minute as they can hurt you if you are not careful. We need to be prepared from the first minute and we areset for a great game between two highly competitive sides.

Broadbeach

Lee Vernon- Pre-Match Comments

We are expecting another difficult game this weekendagainst the Gold Coast Knights. I know a lot of their playerspersonally and they have a lot of quality right across the parkin a number of positions. We have showed in the last twogames that we can create a lot of chances and play goodfootball, but with a bit of luck on our side this weekend andclinical finishing it could be the difference between us takingall three points or missing out.

Gold Coast Knights

Alex Morrison- Pre-Match Comments

Broadbeach have been the benchmark in the GCPL for thelast 10 years. They are always difficult to beat at their homeground and are title favourites each and every year. They area good team with quality players across the whole park. Weneed to make sure that we are on top of our game onSaturday especially against them or they will hurt you forlarge periods throughout the 90 minutes.
