I am looking forward to getting to know them throughout their program. In regards to Year 7 transition, I know Mr Mulherin, with support from Mr Fitzgerald, are preparing this for next term and more information will be provided in due course. A friendly reminder to pass on to your children; There has been some times where students have arrived late and they aren’t coming to the office to be signed in. This will cause parents/caregivers to be sent a text. Please remind your child that if they are late to school (9:00 am) they must come to the office and not go straight to class. If a student arrives at class late, the classroom teacher may also request a copy of their late slip and send them to the office if they cannot produce one. This process helps us ensure we know the whereabouts of all students onsite each day and can account for their safety and welfare while at school. Next week will be a busy week for our school. The Year 4 boys from Sydney Grammar School are coming to Lake Cargelligo and our school is extremely keen to continue to foster this partnership between our two schools. I know everyone will make them feel very welcome around our community. The students will once again have the opportunity to work with Paul & Bonnie in song writing and other musical endeavours. I am very much looking forward to hearing and seeing all the creative work happening next week. Another event that is happening next week is our Year 12 LAP Graduation evening. This is an opportunity for teachers and students involved in the Year 12 LAP program to celebrate their journey. I’m looking forward to celebrating with Year 12, their families and friends. Trent Barrett Shield Gala Day at Griffith Trent Barrett Shield Gala Day at Griffith - Rugby league and league tag competition against schools in the Griffith district. Year 3 and 4 fielded 3 league teams and 1 tag team as well as combined with Tullibigeal to form another tag team. The players had a fantastic day, competing and showing excellent sportsmanship and represented the school with pride. Each team played their hardest against some very tough opponents, but despite several wins, we were not able to make it into the next round. Coaches reported they were very proud of all their players and that they all shone on the field with some standout efforts by Braith being the little warrior tackler, Coden scored 6 to be the top scorer, Ashton was on fire running through the opponents line, Locky impersonated his idol Latrell Mitchell, Matilda is following in her father’s footsteps with her invasive runs and Jarizma and Layla showed the spirit of the day. A special thank you to all the parents and helpers who helped manage the teams we had fielded. Without your help, we never would have been able to manage! Also a big thank you to Tullibigeal Central School for including us in your mixed teams!

Careers Expo 23rd September 2pm – 3:20 LCCS is holding a Careers Expo for all students from Years 9-12. The Expo will be held in the hall from 2-3:20. Parents are welcome. Various local employers will attend as well as the Defence Force and TAFE. This will provide the opportunity for students to see what the workforce is like, different pathways they can take and what is available locally. There will be a BBQ during this event.

SALT Bush Tour

On Tuesday 3rd September our students from Years 9 and 10 were lucky enough to experience a work shop from tradeswomen from throughout NSW.

SALT (Supporting and Linking Tradeswomen) is a support network for tradeswomen, apprentices and women/girls considering a career in a trade. A Try-A-Trade trailer along with experienced tradeswomen spoke to our students from Years 9 and 10 and demonstrated what it takes to be a tradeswoman. The students were familiarised with the types of tools used in various trades including carpentry and painting and decorating.

Some students from Years 9 said the following ‘Some Tradie women came to show us how to use different tools and how to use them safely. We built a caddy out of wood and used screws and nails to hold it together. We really enjoyed the experience.’
