Here are the highlights: Our spring social will be a crawfish boil on 22 April (see flyer p. 2). Please RSVP to Summer Rice. Racing: Races resume on 22 and 25 March (next week). See sailing instructions drawn up by Al Rees p. 3 and the full racing schedule p. 4. Guy Richards also proposed to buy 1 or 2 Optis to promote sailing among young sailors. Grounds: The city finally leveled the cratered mess between the highway and the entrance to the LCYC. David Sargent will have a contractor add more gravel to our own pathway as well. The board also purchased stickers to place on trailers to help identify boats (theyll be installed soon). Club house: John Kalna installed a new 8000 BTU AC unit in the kitchen. Thanks! Harbor: Scott Cesar has begun soliciting bids to fix damaged piers. Dredging is also needed. There will be a work party at 9 am on 3/25 before the regatta. On the program: power-washing the downstairs; replace sinking posts around the parking area; add concrete bags on the retaining wall by the docks; clean the grounds; add stickers to trailers; fix up the Sunfish fleet (if parts arrive in time). Bring appropriate tools / clothing. Thanks in advance to all those who participate. There have been several security and behavior issues lately: a non-member set up a trampoline; several Sunfish were abandoned on the beach (one drifted across the lake to the Isle of Capri and had to be recovered); some items were stolen; and the kitchen was not cleaned up after use on several occasions. So please remember: Lock the gate and doors when you leave. When inviting a non-member, a member must be present. Put boats away after use. Clean up the kitchen after use. To avoid creating ruts, dont drive on the grass. Unless you need to tow a boat, stay on the gravel road. Report all suspicious activity. The family of Tony Pecorino, who passed away last month, has donated his Sunfish to the club. Many thanks. Correction: when listing the people who were recognized at last months banquet for doing a lot to help the club, I forgot to include Hector. My bad! One of our members, John Harris, has been facing a lot of health issues lately. Thanks for providing him with the support he needs. John has been doing a ton over the years to keep our sailing fleet in good repair. (Speaking of which: help would be appreciated if someone wants to help out with boat maintenance). From the Treasurer: The following member dues are PAST DUE. Please contact me asap to make a full payment on your bill to remain a member of good standing. If you need a copy of your bill please let me know. Henry and Karla David; James and Marty Berry; Ty and Connie Grenzebach; Kristian Griffiths ; Scott Rentrop ; Troy and Angie Stine; Gary and Monica Duplechin; Russell McNutt; Tommy Withrow; Josh Twiford One of the dragon boatteams is temporarily using the club to store their boat and train. The board approved. The club will again host the Texas 4000 on 9 June. We’ll have a reception for them that evening. If you know people in the local press / media to publicize these events, let the board know. It would be nice to have a write-up about the Texas 4000s visit to publicize our activities and help recruit members. The sailing lessons are tentatively scheduled for that week too (5-9 June). Volunteer instructors will be needed. Don’t forget to vote on 25 March (runoff on 29 April)! Plenty of local officials are on the ballot, including our next mayor. Schedule

Our spring social will be a crawfish boil on 22 April (see flyer p. 2). Please RSVP to Summer Rice.

Racing: Races resume on 22 and 25 March (next week). See sailing instructions drawn up by Al Rees p. 3

and the full racing schedule p. 4. Guy Richards also proposed to buy 1 or 2 Optis to promote sailing among

young sailors.

Grounds: The city finally leveled the cratered mess between the highway and the entrance to the LCYC.

David Sargent will have a contractor add more gravel to our own pathway as well. The board also purchased

stickers to place on trailers to help identify boats (they’ll be installed soon).

Club house: John Kalna installed a new 8000 BTU AC unit in the kitchen. Thanks!

Harbor: Scott Cesar has begun soliciting bids to fix damaged piers. Dredging is also needed.

replace sinking posts around the parking area; add concrete bags on the retaining wall by the docks; clean the

items were stolen; and the kitchen was not cleaned up after use on several occasions. So please remember:

Lock the gate and doors when you leave.

When inviting a non-member, a member must be present.

Put boats away after use.

Clean up the kitchen after use.

To avoid creating ruts, don’t drive on the grass. Unless you need to tow a boat, stay on the gravel road.

Report all suspicious activity.

The family of Tony Pecorino, who passed away last month, has donated his Sunfish to the club. Many thanks.

Correction: when listing the people who were recognized at last month’s banquet for doing a lot to help the club,

I forgot to include Hector. My bad!

One of our members, John Harris, has been facing a lot of health issues lately. Thanks for providing him with

the support he needs. John has been doing a ton over the years to keep our sailing fleet in good repair. (Speaking

of which: help would be appreciated if someone wants to help out with boat maintenance).

On the water

No racing this past month. But I saw an old photo of the LCYC that was framed in the

men’s bathroom at the Villa restaurant downtown. Can any old-timer help date it? I

assume it was a Contraband Day regatta given the warm weather and the large number of

boats on the water. The garish colors and the swimming trunks scream “1970s” to me, but

I could be wrong.

Lock the gate when you leave.

Please clean the clubhouse after use

Please do not leave the air conditioners running.

If you took it out (boats, gear, sails, silverware, whatever), put it back.

Pick up your trash and dispose of it in the garbage cans or the dumpster. For extra credit, you can pick

up someone else’s trash they left out!

Watch out for power lines! If your aluminum mast touches one, you may be badly burned or worse.

If something on a club boat breaks, report it to a member of the Board or Ship to Shore so that repairs can be

made.
