The holidays are a wonderful time in which the best memories come to
the surface. I find myself wondering through the holidays of my life,
remembering when I was a child and my parents where here, when my
own children were growing up and now watching my grandchildren.
Those memories are not about the shopping or the gifts but the loved ones
that shared that wonderful time with. I hope you can enjoy the holiday
season and create some amazing new memories along with your loved ones.

LAKE TRASK TIMBER TRAILS ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
These are some of the comments that we often hear regarding the information you are or should be getting from Lake Trask. “I would have volunteered if I knew you were going to be working on that”, “We need better communication”. “I didn’t know that was this weekend”. On October 20th we held the annual Loop-Rep meeting (you will find the minutes for that meeting in this newsletter). One of the major issues we have is communication with the members. This was discussed at length during the loop-rep meeting. We want to get notification to members regarding things happen-ing in your area, when we need volunteers for activities, when we are going to be working in your area and when we will be having work parties and needing volunteers in your area ie; bathrooms, brush cleanup, site inspections. It was decided that the Association will create a Facebook page for each loop, this will not affect the main Facebook page. If you have a Facebook page for your loop please contact the office or me to let us know if you want us to add an additional Facebook page for your loop or if you would like to post official notifications for the Association on your page. If you are a loop rep and do not want to be the administrator, we will work to find someone to assist you with Facebook. If you would like to work with Lake Trask on your loop Facebook page, please contact the office. Many members may want to be part of more that one loop page because you are between loops.

LAKE TRASK TIMBER TRAILS ASSOCIATION
OPEN BOARD MEETING OCTOBER 20, 2018
Present: Patty Boyd, Greta Chehrehgosha, Donna Pfingston, Dee Clark, Roger Metcalf. Absent: Tim Kramer, Jason Moberg, and John Tannehill.
Meeting was called to order at 10:59 am in the Lodge at Lake Trask.
Greta Chehrehgosha made a motion to excuse Tim Kramer, Jason Moberg, and John
Tannehill. Motion was seconded by Dee Clark. Yes votes - 4, No votes - 0. Motion carried
with 4 Yes votes.
President Patty Boyd asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from
the previous meeting, September 1, 2018. Hearing none, Greta Chehrehgosha made a motion
to accept the minutes. Motion was seconded by Dee Clark. Yes votes - 4, No votes - 0. Mo-
tion carried with 4 Yes votes.
Patty announced that the Board of Directors had voted to appoint Roger Metcalf to the
Board until the elections in September. Patty introduced newly elected Board member Dee
Clark. Patty then explained questions will be taken after the reports have been read.
There will be a potluck with Loop Representatives at 1:00 pm and all are welcome to at-
tend.
Park Operation: Gary Dail gave report. He has not heard from the State regarding the
spillway dam. The State has requested we place depth markers in the lake. They are in place;
please do not tamper with them.
Erik Rasmussen (E1-11) asked about the tree leaning on Maple. Gary is aware of the tree.
Patty asked if it will fall on anything and Gary said no.
Patty asked how are the presale site inspections being accepted? Gary says they are work-
ing well. However, some members are not always aware that all accounts must be paid up be-
fore a site can be transferred. Also, members must remove unwanted RVs as we no longer can
dispose of them.
Have the restroom roofs been prepped with baking soda for moss? Gary says not yet.
Office Report: Yvonne will be on vacation from October 27 - November 15. Gary will be
in the office assist you.
Treasurers Report: Greta Chehrehgosha gave report. There is nothing new to report. The
mix up with South Sound Bank putting money in wrong account has been corrected. Roger
Metcalf (D4-3&5) asked if there is a break down in the budget included in minutes reflecting
work orders? Greta said no, it is on the full budget sheets. Members are welcome to review
4
budget sheets in office by appointment. Dee Clark made a motion to accept the Treasurers
report as read. Motion was seconded by Donna Pfingston. Motion carried with 4 Yes votes.
Audit Committee: Chuck Ehret (A6-18&19) says Don tells him they will meet soon.
Budget & Finance: Chuck Ehret says things are okay.
By-Laws: Donna Pfingston said all proposed changes must be submitted to the Board by January 31, 2019. There have been three proposals submitted. LeeAnn Skipton (C5-29) asks if we can tell members what they are so they will not be duplicated. In the past, proposed By-law changes have not been presented until the monthly newsletter in March. Patty Boyd said we
will notify you if there is a similar proposal submitted.
Building & Grounds: There are a couple of members who are interested in being on this
committee but do not want to be on the Board. This is not a problem. The Board is working
on this. We need to mud and tape the restrooms and replace siding at bottoms of exterior
walls due to water damage. The rangers will mud and tape, but we will need volunteers to
help with replacing the siding. Erik Rasmussen is still planning on working on the restroom
on Maple.
Glenda Rios (D3-21) asked if we list things we need volunteers for in the newsletter? Yes
we do.
Site Sales: We are getting people looking at sites and joining the Facebook Sales site.
Chuck Ehret asked if the number of sites for sale is low or normal? Patty says in the past the
site sales list has been 2-3 pages and even up to 5 pages during the electrical/water project.
LeeAnn Skipton asked is there a form to report repairs need in restroom? The urinal on Juni-
per runs constantly. Please notify the Park Manager (Gary Dail) when you see something
needing attention. The toilet on Timber runs as well.
Bill Bell (D2-2) asked can someone who is not a member rent a courtesy site? No, they
must be with a member to rent a courtesy site.
Loop Representatives: . There is a meeting today at 1:00 in the lodge. There will be a
potluck before the meeting. We would like to create a “Need Volunteers” column in the news-
letter.
Fish & Lake: Remember all boats must be off the lake and out of the boat storage racks
by November 1, 2018. Tom Sullens said the inflatable floats need to be off the lake shore too.
Any inflatables/floaties left on the lake shore after November 1st will be disposed of.
Entertainment: Patty Boyd said any member who has an idea for a event is welcome to
speak to the Board and we will help in anyway we can. The Board is not responsible for or-
ganizing and running the events.
5
Pat Metcalf (D4-3&5) asked what the profits were from the Carnival? Greta said the Labor
Day profits are as follows: carnival profit - $472.00, small and large raffle profit - $1,902.28,
food profit - $1,142.39, Bingo profit - $325.04 for a total profit of $3,841.70.
Old Business: LeeAnn Skipton asked is there no riding in the park because of the burn
ban? Right now Green Diamond is closed for safety, due to hunters. Tom Sullens said ORVs
that are street legal can be ridden in the park.
New Business: Patty Boyd gave President Awards to Dee Clark and Drew Pfingston since
they were not present at the Labor Day Presentation. Congratulations!
During the recent Burn Ban, we had several members who were rude and yelling at our
staff. They were unhappy about not having a fire and letting the staff know it. This conduct
will not be tolerated by the Board of Directors. The staff does not make the decisions at the
lake, that is why you elected a Board of Directors.
Chuck Ehret asked if propane fire pits are allowed during a stage 1 burn ban? Yes, they are
allowed. For safety, please place the propane fire pit inside your regular fire pit.
Meeting was adjourned at 11:42 am.

LOOP REPRESENTATIVE MEETING
OCTOBER 20, 2018
Meeting was held in the lodge at Lake Trask and began at 1:20 pm.
President Patty Boyd welcomed those in attendance and explained that the purpose of this
meeting was to discuss some items and get feedback from the Reps.
Burn Ban: We use the newsletter as well as our website and Facebook page to convey in-
formation to our members. Unfortunately members do not always read them. Communication
is key to keeping the park running smoothly. During the last burn ban, we published infor-
mation regarding why we are not allowed to burn during a Stage 1 burn ban. Unfortunately,
our staff was yelled at by members who were upset about not being able to have a fire. The
Board will not tolerate this kind of treatment of our staff.
Site Inspections: Some letters were sent to members with issues on their sites, however
not every site with issues has been sent a letter yet. The question was asked if we re-check
“problem” sites after a month? Usually we do, however some inspections have not followed
up on yet. Yvonne has made a binder for each loop for site inspections.
Concerns: It was brought up that several members are not respecting the quiet times.
Loud music, partying and swearing are going on till 1:00 am, well past 10:00 pm and 12:00
am (weekends) rules. It was suggested we have one quiet time all week, perhaps 10:00 pm.
We may need to make a clarification on the Bylaw. Please remember we are a family park and
be respectful of the ones around you.
Restrooms: Our goal is to fix the lower portions of the exterior siding with cement board
or possibly new T1-11 with metal flashing on lower portion. This will prevent water damage
that will eventually seep into the inside and damage the drywall. Once the outside is complet-
ed, we will move on the interior. The rangers will be taping and mudding the drywall. Loop
members can then paint the interiors. Perhaps have a loop get together and come up with a
plan on how to decorate your loops restroom.
Facebook loop pages: Each loop can make a Facebook page for their loop. This is a good
way to get the word out to everyone on your loop. Can we link the individual loop Facebook
pages to the Lake Trask Facebook page?
In the past the loop representatives have had a chairperson, would you like to reinstate this?
Most felt it is working well with having a Board representative for each loop.
7
Are there any other concerns? People are shooting on Green Diamond property off Willow.
Patty says to call 911 and report this. No one is allowed to shoot that close to populated areas.
Are the propane fire pits considered “open flames”? Mason County allows them during a
stage 1 burn ban. For further information regarding the regulations for Mason County, mem-
bers can go the their website and under “recreational fire are allowed” they can click the link.
That will explain in depth what is required to meet regulations. We can write a policy explain-
ing why we cannot have open fires during stage 1 burn bans. Can we regulate the height of
flames on propane fire pits? Someone had a propane fire pit with a very high flame. The size
of the flame on propane fire pits is regulated. If it is too high, possibly the fire pit has been
“modified” illegally. We need to establish a standard for propane fire pits.
When there are new members on your loop, go and introduce yourself and welcome them.
It’s a great way to establish communications!
Thank you to everyone who came to the meeting.

BURN BAN BULLIES
We all enjoy sitting around our toasty campfires, roasting hotdogs and enjoying
time spent with our family and friends. However, what we as a Board do not enjoy
are members who are rude and bully our staff when there is a Burn Ban at the lake.
It has been made very clear to our members that when Mason County allows
recreational fires in APPROVED FIRE PITS during stage 1 bans, there is still a burn
ban at the lake. We at Lake Trask do not meet the County's APPROVED PIT require-
ments. All fire pits must be 25 feet from combustibles: trees, structures, RVs, brush,
etc. The only fire pit at Lake Trask that meets the Mason County APPROVED FIRE
PIT regulations is the one on the beach at the lodge.
During the recent burn ban at the lake, several members were extremely rude
and bullying to our staff. Shouting at them and making them feel threatened will
not be tolerated. The staff does not make the decisions for the Association, that is
the Boards job. We have to follow the regulations established by Mason County and
Bureau of Land Management.
Anyone who has an issue with these decisions should take it up with the Board.
Our staff are only doing their jobs so please remember that; instead of yelling at
them.
We as a Board appreciate the hard work our staff does here at the Lake, it would
be nice for members to let them know too.
Thank you,
Lake Trask Board of Directors
