EVENTS BULLETIN – November 13 – 19, 2009 Concerto Competition Friday, November 13, 2009 Lakes Region Symphony Orchestera ‐ Meredith The Meredith‐based Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra (LRSO), now in its 34th season, is pleased to announce its First Annual Concerto Competition for young artists, proudly sponsored by Laconia Harley‐ Davidson. The competition is open to high school students in grades 9‐11, and any student that plays a standard orchestral instrument (percussion excepted). Interested students will first submit an application, and later prepare a recording of a “fast movement” of a standard orchestral concerto. This annual exhibition presents an opportunity for students and members of the PSU community to become better acquainted with art department faculty outside the classroom, as artists working in a variety of media. Faculty welcome viewers into the private realm of the teacher as artist. November 18, noon—Gallery Panel: Artistic Philosophy Through December 5 "Textiles: Pattern, Ornament and Culture." Silver Center for the Arts. Textile history, design and manufacture are traced in this exhibition through broad changes in technology and historic drivers. Simultaneously a display of the textile designs and commentary of Amin Kalaf trace a personal journey through a cycle of change in American textile history. Through January 29 "Two Rivers Printmaking Studio: Portfolio 2008." Lamson Library and Learning Commons. Presenting works by 26 artist members and faculty from Vermont and New Hampshire.
