GAMMA ETA AT THE CAPITOL, ETIQUETTE DINNER AND SPIN CLASS!

For Love Your Brother month, Gamma Eta had a private spin class at Hendrick Health Club. Of the many spin classes that Hendrick offers, one is “The trip” - an

intense spin class with a cinematic experience through a different part of the world. For this class, Brothers rode through the beautiful country of Egypt.Gamma Eta hosted a cocktail etiquette dinner at Miguel's Mex Tex Cafe. The

evening started with a presentation by Professor Debra Strong on proper cocktail and networking etiquette. Attendants enjoyed appetizers, drinks, and an opportunity

to mingle with faculty members and other pharmacists from the community.

Pharmacy Day at the Texas Capitol is biennial event dedicated to those in pharmacy practice, including pharmacists, student pharmacists, and technicians, to advocate

and advance our profession. During this event, students learn about legislative issues directly affecting pharmacy practice and speak with state legislators about their support when it comes down to voting on these legislative issues. Many Gamma Eta

Brothers from every class attended to speak with legislators, assist with the health screening, and reunite with Brothers from other chapters.

Advice: Provide a place for your Brother to lean whenever it is needed and as

often as possible. This not only helps to build a foundation of putting others ahead of yourself, but really is the

starting point of a developing strong brotherhood.

Michael DeanTom Thumb

Advice: I suggest all the younger brothers start

networking early regardless of which path you take in pharmacy. It

never hurts to know people in high places!

Advice: Have a story for each rotation, volunteering event, presentation or project that is listed on your CV to showcase how great of a prospective pharmacist you are.

The process can be extremely stressful and the last thing you want

is to be forced to complete it under a time crunch. Ask questions of

the people who have gone before you, utilize the resources that our school provides (they are actually incredibly

helpful), be confident in yourself and what you have learned, and have

faith in the process. You will end up exactly

where you are supposed to be!
