The Language Training Centre delivers an intensive English-language and academic-preparation program that will
support successful learning, living and working in the heart of Canada. Upon completion of our program you may choose to
continue post-secondary studies, explore future career options in Canada or return to your country with broadened horizons and
expertise in culturally-appropriate English communication.
ADVANTAGES OF CHOOSING RED RIVER COLLEGE LANGUAGE TRAINING CENTRE PROGRAMS
Program OptionsIntensive English for
International Students This full-time, competency-based program is for students wanting
to develop English language proficiency for post-secondary studies, employment, and daily life.
Students gain English-language and academic skills through a variety of classroom, computer lab and cultural exercises, as well as
specialized workshops, community contact assignments and authentic language experiences. Accelerate your learning by working with a state-
of-the-art online learning program that provides additional independent and group practice.
Classes run from 9am - 3pm or 10am - 4pm each day, Monday to Friday. Terms are four months long, and students can continue until they reach
the required level for their academic program. Classes start in January, May, and September.
Communication for Business and Finance This full-time, four-month program, for students with a background or interest
in business, helps to develop English language skills that will enable students to interact in a business environment or pursue further training in business. This
advanced level program will help you to read and understand business materials, develop a business vocabulary, and write reports as well as other essential
business communication for workplace settings. Knowledge and skills are gained through presentations, interviews, research assignments, and guest speakers.
(Required minimum: IELTS 5.5 in two skill areas and IELTS 6.0 in two skill areas)
Summer English Language Programs• Red River College’s two-week Summer English Language Camp provides a unique
way for you to improve your language skills while also learning more about local and national culture through field trips and tours. Morning instruction focuses on the
language skills that will be used in the afternoon’s activities. These activities include visits to historic sites, museums, and sports events in and around Winnipeg.
• The NEW Academic Bridging Program is a two-month program that equips students with the skills and language necessary to be successful in College-level programs.
(Required minimum: IELTS 6.0 in all skill areas) The dates for the Academic Bridging Program will be available in March 2014.
