Peace River Break Vision: The Peace River Break landscape is valued and managed to maintain connectivity for wildlife between core protected areas and to honour treaty and aboriginal rights; it provides sustainable livelihoods for those who live there, and abundant recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.

Towards a Conservation Strategy
Y2Y commissioned Calgary-based biologist, Dr. Clayton Apps, to model and predict the impacts of cumulative human activities on connectivity for wildlife.
Research Method
• 6 focal species were selected to represent an array of regional ecosystem conditions, while also being sensitive to human impacts in different ways
• For each focal species, Dr. Apps evaluated the potential influence of present and future cumulative impacts on the underlying potential for landscape-level habitat effectiveness and connectivity at the population level
Human Population Access & Remoteness Map Dr. Clayton Apps, from 2012 Y2Y study on wide-ranging species and cumulative impacts
