4 ILSC® 2015 Advance Program | March 23 - 26, 2015 | Albuquerque, NM USA
ILSC® 2015 will present laser safety professionals (new and experienced) with the latest topics in the field and provide significant opportunities for networking with fellow leaders in the laser safety arena. This conference combines the best of hands-on learning of everyday practical tidbits with the most cutting-edge scientific research relevant to standards and practice. We continue both the Medical Practical Applications Seminar and the Technical Practical Applications Seminar presented by leaders in the field. This year’s venue in Albuquerque, New Mexico is Embassy Suites Albuquerque.
Plenary Session Chair: John O’Hagan, Public Health England, Oxfordshire, Great Britain
“Lasers All Around Us”Our opening plenary covers the two extremes of effective control of laser safety issues. Dr. Bill Seng from Sandia National Laboratories will present the range of lasers and applications at the laboratory. At the other extreme, Fahd Quhill from a hospital in the UK has had to deal with what happens when children use high powered lasers and injure themselves.

John O’Hagan, Public Health England
Conference Chair: Thomas Lieb, L*A*I International, Elk Grove, CA, USAThe 2015 ILSC Technical Practical Application Sessions (TPAS) provide a forum for institutional laser safety professionals to share real world lessons on managing site laser safety programs in a variety of settings. These expositions offer the collected wisdom from the study of actual laser accidents, years of first hand research laser use, and laser lab design, revealing valuable observations that accrue only with the benefit of experience and hindsight. Other presentations will give LSOs practical knowledge on performing hazard calculations, identifying and complying with the applicable regulations and standards, understanding how optics change the nominal hazard zone, and more. Such insights from all over the world will help personnel in front line
positions establish best practice for maintaining an effective and efficient facility laser safety program. For those with laser safety responsibilities, whether novice or experienced, the 2015 TPAS will furnish immediately useful tools for improving competence, confidence, compliance, training material, efficiency, and above all, safety.
