RECIPE FOR FRUIT CAKE

6 oz moist brown sugar.6 oz margarine.3 eggs3 oz plain white flour + 6 oz wholemeal S.R. flour or use 9 oz S.R. flour12 oz mixed fruit _ use your own combinationZest of lemon or orange.

Method:Cream fat and sugar. Add the eggs and flour, fold in the fruit and zest.Combine all well. Spoon into prepared tin.

Bake for 1 hour Gas Mark 3 lower oven to Gas 2 for 1/2 hour.

Remove from oven, leave to cool in tin before turning out.Recipe provided by Helen Douzier

SHOW RULES1. All exhibitors must be amateur and can be of any age.

2. Applications for membership to WAGA will not be considered after 28 days before the show.

3. Exhibitors must fill in the entry form stating in which Class/es they intend to exhibit. Forms must be returned no later than 4th September, the Wednesday before the Show. We cannot accept entries after this date. Entrance fees are as stated in the schedule of classes. No entry fee for children’s classes and separate entry forms are required from each individual member of a household, extra entry forms are available from http://wivenhoeallotment.wordpress.com/ and the Trading Hut.

4. Exhibitors must provide their own vases, plates, dishes etc. and stage as per schedule. The committee will not be responsible for the safety of any exhibit. Exhibits may not be removed from the tables before 4.30pm.

5. All exhibitors may enter only one entry per class.

6. The Judges reserve the right to inspect the garden or allotment of an exhibitor in the vegetable or flower classes.

7. Protests must be made in writing to the Chair before 3.00pm on the day of the Show with a fee of £1.00. No protests will be recognized unless dealing specifically with an infringement of the rules.

8. All specimens exhibited in competition for prizes must have been made or grown by the exhibitor (plants in their seedling stage accepted). This rule does not apply to Section F class 61

9. Prizes, awards and entry fees will be as stated in the schedule of classes. Additional prizes may be awarded at the judge’s discretion. Judges may limit the prizes in any class if in their opinion, exhibits in that class do not merit an award.

10. All trophies remain the property of the association, therefore should not be engraved.

11. Prize money will be paid from the treasurer’s desk on the afternoon of the show. Leave certificates on tables until the end of the show. Prize money to be claimed on day of the show or it will be forfeited and returned to WAGA.

12. It is particularly important that exhibitors do not tamper with other exhibitor entries already displayed.

13. The RHS Banksian medal will be awarded to the person who gets the highest number of place points in the whole of the horticultural classes at the show.
