MUSIC IS FUN HIGHLIGHTS
Last Friday our students travelled to Waikerie Primary School to enjoy the interactive music performance
“Music is Fun”. The 75 minute performance gave a number of our students the opportunity to be a part of
the show and all audience members were able to get up and shake their tail feather! Another great show!
OUR CLEAN UP CREW During the upcoming holidays we are having a shed erected by Jason Rayner of
“Aussie Sheds and Frames”. This shed will house our school bus. This has meant that a
tree behind the hall has been removed. Thank you to George Loffler for cutting the
tree down for us and to our eager beavers, Aaron, Brodie and Syrus for all their hard
work yesterday cleaning away the branches during recess and lunch as well as
Taylah, Haylee, Cody and Charlotte for chipping in with clean up duty at lunch time.
Your school service is appreciated.

STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Teachers are encouraging the attitudes of appreciation, commitment, confidence, cooperation,
creativity, curiosity, empathy, enthusiasm, independence, integrity, respect and tolerance as a tool kit for
successfully relating with others. As a way of celebrating the demonstration of these attitudes by
students, staff have elected these students this week.
Year 6/7 Class (Mr Braun and Mrs O’Brien) Grit - Byron Childs. It was awesome to see Byron show grit and persistence to finish reading the book that he
has had this term. Great job Byron!
Confidence - Sara Akawee. It is great to hear Sara contribute to class discussions. She has shown confidence
when sharing her thoughts during devotion times. Well done Sara!
Year 5/6 Class (Mrs Burns) Grit - Hamish Kroehn. Hamish worked solidly when unpacking our central idea. He thought carefully and
wasn’t afraid to list lots of possible synonyms and phrases for each key word. Great effort Hamish!
Reflective - Emily McPherson. Emily thought carefully while reflecting on our Central Idea over the last 2 weeks.
She used her prior knowledge to give her opinion and made connections between her local community and
the central idea. Keep up the solid reflections Emily!
Year 3/4 Class (Mr Fladrich) Caring - Jarvis Ebert. Jarvis is a caring student who is a loyal friend and is able to empathise with the feelings of
others. Well done Jarvis!
Communication – Taylah Liebich. Taylah displayed great communication skills when explaining mental
strategies she used to solve worded problems in Maths. Well done Taylah!
Year 1/2 Class (Mrs Waterson) Grit - Nicolas Camerlengo Nicolas has demonstrated grit in the classroom since returning from holidays.
He has applyed himself in order to catch up on concepts missed and progress with his understanding!
Knowledgeable - Max Liebich. Max has applied himself well in our Mathematics unit on money. He has
demonstrated excellent knowledge about how to add up collections of coins and notes. Well done Max!!
Foundation/Year 1 Class (Mrs Beelitz) Grit – Isla Cole. Isla worked extremely hard, showing grit to complete an amazing piece of writing. Love your
work Isla. Keep it up!
Thinker - Alexander Wood. Alexander did great thinking about sounds in words, sentences and his writing,
completing his Speech Sound Detective work and his storyboard. Well done!
CORNER OF PEACE
BREAKFAST CLUB We have received 4 toasters, 2 plastic jugs and
a generous monetary donation (which will be
used to purchase more cups) to help with the
set up of our Breakfast Club commencing in
Term 3. We are still looking for a few items such
as a few more plastic jugs, some thick durable
plastic plates, a small fridge and some willing
volunteers.
The aim of the Breakfast Club is to provide all
students with some food prior to the start of the
school day. We have a very large number of
students at our school who travel to school via
the bus, which can, for some students, result in
an hour long trip from home to WLPS. This means
that breakfast (if eaten) could have been 2 or
more hours prior to arriving at school. Some students also may not have sufficient
time to have breakfast prior to arrival at school, so this initiative would assist with
providing something to eat before the major learning part of the day. Children who
arrive at school hungry can not achieve their best and are not able to concentrate
effectively and learn efficiently. Parents and younger siblings are welcome to join us
for some breakfast too!
We will be offering toast, fruit, possibly cereal (if desired) and milk or milo which will
be supplied to us free of charge from Foodbank SA, with our local supplier in Berri.
If you are able to donate some items or volunteer your time to assist, please see
Melissa Schmidt or Jane Shugg in the Office. We are hoping to have this up and
running for the start of the new school term!
