Last Saturday I was invited to join the Filipino community for lunch and a little farewell. Thank you Rose and Claire and all those who helped organise the event. They sang a lovely farewell song, called, “May the Good Lord, Bless and Keep You”, and presented me with two new Albs. Thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness. We are blessed with lovely people in our community. Thank you all for your parish and community involvement over these years, it is much appreciated by many.

Introduction

The more profound things are, the simpler they seem to be. The essence of the Gospel and this season coalesces in

today’s focus on God’s love for us and the commandment to love one another. This may seem far too simple; but the reality is

amazing and a little terrifying. If we are honest, we know both the impact and the cost of this kind of love from our personal

experience.

First Reading Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48

God’s presence is available to all.

Responsorial Psalm The Lord has revealed to the nations his

saving power.

Second Reading 1 John 4:7-10

God is made known to us through love.

ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! All who love me will keep my words, and

my Father will love them and we will come to them

ALLELUIA!

Gospel John 15:9-17

“This I command you: love one another”

Prayers of the Faithful

For the church: that it may be a visible sign of God’s unending love for the whole human

race … we pray,

For those who are witnesses to love in the most difficult situations and at great personal

risk … we pray,

For Fr. Hermi as he continues his ministry in this place, may it be a time of joy and

fulfillment… we pray,

For Pope Francis — for length of days in service to God’s people as he embraces the

commission to preach the kingdom … we pray,

For hearts and minds open to knowing Christ in this community; and for all among us who

need the healing of this relationship, especially the sick, the dying and all who

suffer ... we pray,

Together we pray….

God of love, you have shown yourself to us through Jesus and in whatever

love we have experienced in our lives. Help us to love others with the same generosity with which you have loved us. We humbly ask this in the name of

your Son, whose love is without bounds. Amen.
