ARMSTRONG, A (Albert) 1903-1914 Born 1888, a goalscoring centre forward & cricketer with Keyworth CC. He was 5’6” tall and died at Arras, Flanders

on 25 July 1917 during the First World War.

Son of John Armstrong and brother of Jack Armstrong, Thomas Armstrong & William Armstrong.

ARMSTRONG, N B (Newman Bycroft) Vice President 1946-1956. Long serving Bingham RDC Councillor and cricketer with Keyworth. Born 1886. Died

1978. Brother of Henry Armstrong. Brother in law to Jack Armstrong. Uncle to Stanley Armstrong.

ARMSTRONG, R R (Ronald Rex) (Ron) (Pom) 1946-1956 Winger/inside forward born 3 September 1925 who played in the KUFC Realm League championship wins in

1946/47, 47/48, 48/49, 49/50 and Spartan League 50/51 and Notts FA Junior Cup win in 1948 and Intermediate Cup

win in 1951, plus Realm League Cup win in 1949 & Spartan Cup win in 1951. Committee member 1954-1956. He was

also a very successful bowler for KCC between 1948 & 1963 .Ron eventually emigrated to Canada where he later died.

Son of Silas Rex Armstrong.

ARMSTRONG, S R (Silas Rex) Born 1894. Committee member 1953-1954. Selection Committee member 1947-1948. Father of Ron Armstrong

ARMSTRONG, S (Stanley) (Stocking) 1928-1930 Right full back. Vice President 1984-85. Keyworth cricketer & umpire. Born 1909, he died in 1986 aged 77.

Nephew of Albert Armstrong, Henry Armstrong, Jack Armstrong, Newman Bycroft Armstrong,

Thomas Armstrong & William Armstrong.

ARMSTRONG, T A (Thomas) 1890-1895 Full Back and outstanding cricketer with Keyworth CC good enough to play for Nottinghamshire CCC starting from

1892 and he also played professionally in Somerset with Wellington and the Sefton, Werneth and Moorside clubs and

died in Keyworth 5 July 1938 and is buried in the churchyard.

Son of John Armstrong and brother of Henry Armstrong & William Armstrong.

11 April 1900. Son of John Armstrong and brother of Albert Armstrong, Jack Armstrong & Thomas Armstrong.

1893-94 and in Canada for East Toronto CC as well as for Keyworth CC. Standing 5 feet 7 inches tall.

ATTEWELL, S (Sydney) 1928-1929 Goalkeeper born 1904 and a Keyworth cricketer. Vice President 1936-1956. Club Trustee 1948-50.

ATTEWELL, T (Thomas) 1892-1895 Born in Keyworth on 7 November 1869, he was a centre half back and cricketer with Keyworth CC and good enough

to play for Nottinghamshire CCC and as a professional for Nottingham Commercial CC and Notts Castle CC. He was

the first KCC player to achieve the ‘hat-trick’ on 20 April 1895 v Digby Colliery CC. He died on 6 July 1937 at

Standard Hill, Nottingham. Brother of John Attewell, Samuel Attewell & William (Dick) Attewell,

Cousin of Walter & Ezra Attewell. Brother in law of Edgar Pike.

ATTEWELL, W (Walter) 1887-1890 Big, powerful full back, born in Keyworth on 29 January 1865 and a fine cricketer with Keyworth CC who made one

appearance for Nottinghamshire CCC and played as a professional in Scotland, Wales, the USA and famously was the

coach at Shrewsbury School. He died in Keyworth 3 February 1919 and is buried in the churchyard.

ATTEWELL, W (William) (Dick) I 1878-1885 Born in Elm Avenue on 12 June 1861. Died in Long Eaton 11 June 1927. Wisden Cricketer of 1892 & 1889 he was the

greatest ever Keyworth cricketer, playing for Nottinghamshire CCC from 1881 to 1900 and he played in 10 Tests for

England and toured Australia three times. Athletically built, with tanned complexion, he was also an outstanding

footballer with Keyworth FC and in October 1883 was selected to play for the Nottinghamshire FA Representative XI.

Brother of John, Samuel & Thomas Attewell and cousin of Walter & Ezra Attewell, uncle of Ritchie Attewell,

brother in law to Harry Bolton.

ATTEWELL, W (William) (Bill) II 1947-1948 Left Half Back and a cricketer with Keyworth CC. Born 1927.

Son of Ritchie Ewart Attewell & brother in law to Charlie Underwood.

AYRES, G (Graham) 1984-1987 Goalkeeper who also played for Ilkeston Town FC & Selective Travel FC.

Youth team coach 1987-88. Club Chairman 1988-89.

BACON, A () 1993-1994 Forward.

BADDER, J W (James William) (Jimmy) 1947-1964 Born 5 March 1930 at Church Warsop, he moved to Radford, Nottingham at the age of 4 years and first played for

Radford YMCA, Basford Hall Old Boys and the Nottingham Boys in the National KO Cup at centre forward during the

1947/48 season and through to the semi finals against Lancashire Boys with Albert Keetley playing centre half in the

same team. Had trial periods with Bolton Wanderers FC, Lincoln City FC & Sheffield Wednesday FC before becoming

one of KUFC’s all time greatest players. Very quick and a prolific goalscorer in the KUFC Realm League

championship wins in 1946/47, 47/48, 48/49, 49/50 and Spartan League 50/51 and Notts FA Junior Cup win in 1948

and Intermediate Cup win in 1951, plus Realm League Cup win in 1949 & Spartan Cup win in 1951. He was top league

scorer with 51 goals in the 1950/51 season and again in 1951/52 this time 75 goals, 50 of them notched before

christmas. When Jimmy did his ‘National Service’, so highly did the club value him that they setaside 10 shillings

every week to pay for his rail fares so he could return to Keyworth for matches. Club Captain 1958-1962. Committee

member 1950-1959. Selection Committee member 1957-1962. He died in May 1995.

Father in law of Tommy Frame and brother in law of Tommy Derrick.

BAILEY, J () 1905-1908 Wing half. Cricketer with Keyworth CC

BAILEY, P (Peter) (Pete) 1954-1963 Centre forward who emerged from the junior team of 1954. He left to join Tollerton Rangers FC where he continued to

be a prolific goalscorer and still resides in Tollerton.

BAKER, A () 1983-1984 Player

BAKER, B (Barry) Chairman 1984-1988 and at the time of Keyworth United FCs 1984/85 Notts Alliance League championship win.

President of Keyworth Cricket Club since 2008. Centre half with Essex clubs, Romford FC, Dagenham FC and

Dagenham Sports FC, representing the Essex Sunday Combination League XI during the 1960s.

Father of Geoff Baker.

BENNETT, A (Alan) 1970-1978 A left full back who was a squad reserve in the Notts Alliance League Div Two champion & Notts FA Senior Cup r/up

& Notts Intermediate Cup winners 1975/76 teams. Brother of Maurice Bennett & uncle of Dean Bennett.

BENNETT, D (Dean) 1992-2010 A product of the youth teams this outstanding striker was constantly watched by scouts from many professional clubs

and was selected to represent the Notts Senior League in 2005 with 3apps/1goal. A mid-winter spell away in New

Zealand playing with Ponsonby FC, then managed by former KUFC star Mick Waitt and following in the footsteps of

another KUFC hero David Riley saw him return to the UK in February 1994 and cause a dispute by signing with

Gedling Town FC and then immediately deciding to re-join KUFC.

BETTS, K (Keith) 1962-1972 Centre half who came from Worksop Town FC and Toton United FC and gave outstanding service and now lives at

Clifton. Keith was very dominant in the air although only average in height. Cricketer with KCC.

BETTS, R (Ralph) 1989-1994 Solid, hard working defender who played for a number of Notts Alliance League clubs.

BIGGINS, J (James) 2010-2011 Full back, signed from Boots Athletic FC and previously a junior at Nottingham Forest FC, he moved on to

Attenborough FC.

BILTON, S () 2001-2002 Forward.

BINCH, C (Craig) 2001-2004 Forward. Cricketer with Keyworth.

BINCH, D (David) (Dave) 1979-1981 Forward who also played for Ruddington FC.

BINCH, J (Jeremy) (Jerry) (Jazz) 1986-1988 Flying winger who had periods with several professional clubs including Nottingham Forest FC, Ipswich Town FC,

Luton Town FC & Peterborough United FC. One time caddie to ‘pro’ golfer Ian Poulter.

Keyworth CC. Born 1934. Son of George Blatherwick.

BLATHERWICK, F (Fred) 1938-1939 Winger who was killed during World War II. Cricketer with Keyworth CC.

BLATHERWICK, G H (George) 1928-1947 A good Goalkeeper who had trials with Nottingham Forest FC but failed because of weak dead ball kicking.

Committee Member 1947-48. Selection Committee Member 1938-40. Suffered from Parkinson disease following

World War II. Father of Clive Blatherwick

BLATHERWICK, J (John) 1936-1947 Wing Half who also played with Bunny United FC & Ruddington FC. Head Gardener at Bunny Hall.

BLOOR, R (Reg) 1923-1924 Inside Forward in the reserves who moved, aged 19 years to Chilwell Institute to get first team matches.

BLOORE, L (Leslie) (Les) Born 1905 and in 1967 had a mobile grocery van. Committee member 1948-49. Selection Committee member 1938-49.

Cricketer with Keyworth and a former Clerk to the Keyworth Parish Council. Father of Bill Bloore.

BLOORE, W (William) (Bill) Committee member 1954-1956. Cricketer with Keyworth. Born 6 September 1933. Son of Les Bloore

BOLTON, C (Cyril) 1946-1947 Inside Forward.

BOLTON, G R (George Ralph) (Ralph) Very respected and hard working officer with the club, born in 1897. Chairman 1936-1940.

Committee member 1947-1951. Selection Committee member 1946-1955. Vice President 1946-1956.

BOLTON, H W (Harry) 1889-1909 Powerfully built centre half back born in Keyworth on 1 January 1873, and 5 ft 8 ins tall. An outstanding fast right arm

bowler and prolific wicket taker for Keyworth CC he also played professionally in Nottinghamshire, High Wycombe,

Llandudno and for many years in Scotland where he was the record wicket taker. He died 14 September 1952 in

Keyworth. Brother of Herbert Bolton. Brother in law to the great William (Dick) Attewell.

long through passes often made goal chances for Jimmy Badder. Born in 16 September 1921 he served in the Navy

during World War II and finished his career playing with Notts Amateurs FC and Stanton on the Wolds FC in the

HENSON, H R (Harry) (His Royal Highness) 1930-1955 Born 21 April 1915 in Keyworth. Died June 2001. Harry was brought up living in Blind Lane (now Commercial Road)

and in the 1930’s was a prolific goal scoring centre forward for KUFC and versatile enough to play in defence and

midfield as well. He suffered a serious injury during the Second World War and afterwards became a very efficient

Club Secretary from 1948 to 1963 and a Notts FA Councillor from 1962. He sat on the Spartan League Management

Committee from 1951 to 1959 and was their Secretary from 1967. He was in charge during a very successful period

when KUFC won the Realm League championship in 1946/47, 47/48, 48/49, 49/50 and Spartan League 50/51 and

Notts FA Junior Cup win in 1948 and Intermediate Cup win in 1951, plus Realm League Cup win in 1949 & Spartan

Cup win in 1951 and he often played when needed in a variety of positions. An outstanding cricketer with KCC and a

Keyworth Parish Councillor during the 1960s. Honorary Club Life Vice President until his death in 2001.

Jardine’s Athletic at Ruddington. He emigrated at the turn of the 20th century as a professional cricketer to North

America, firstly with a club in Philadelphia (USA), then in Winnipeg (Canada) before settling for the rest of his life in

Saskatchewan, Regina where he coached and umpired for 32 years.

WRIGHT, M W (Matthew William) (Mat) 1878-1890 Born in Keyworth on 24 July 1858 and related to the Attewell family, an outstanding full back for many seasons who

stood at 5ft 9ins and played in an official Notts County FC Trial Match on 8 October 1886. He was also a prominent

cricketer with Keyworth CC and made his first class debut for Nottinghamshire CCC in 1885 but made only a few

appearances thereafter and eventually moved to Buckinghamshiree CCC in 1891 and stayed with them for 22 years. He

died 13 May 1949 in Windsor.
