Garden Lawnge

Light, moveable, comfortable and strong. The Garden Lawnge is made of steel, aluminum or wood. The Garden Lawnge rests on both legs and castors, which makes it easy to move.

Feltwood Lawnge

Feltwood Lawnge is assembled by clicking the various parts together, no screws or glue needed. Manufactured from lasercut Finnish whitewood, the Feltwood Lawnge is transported in a flat pack.

As an alternative to the Garden lawnge, Feltwood Lawnge is designed for interior usage. The accompanying covering, which goes by the name of ‘Dune’, is a fabric designed by Ulf Moritz for the Danskina label. The exclusive wool felt seating perfectly represents the transition from outdoors to indoors.

Neighborhood- and participation projects

Combining an object of art with furniture and playground equipment is ideal when trying to give shape to a public space.

In participation projects future users and local residents are involved in the design- and placement process of the Lawnge. Laser cutting, screen printing or other techniques are used to give each project its own unique look and shape.

All activities, from “sowing time” to the unveiling of the Lawnge, are organized in participation with neighborhood representatives and therefore not only promote fraternization. Also they improve the quality of outdoor space, resulting in a piece of furniture and art object which people can enjoy for years.

Public Lawnge Een Lawnge ingezaaid

2009, De Heuvel/Princenhage, Breda

Op de grens tussen twee Bredase buurten ontwierp Lawnge het meubel dat de karakters van deze wijken samenbracht. Het resulteerde in een golvend zitobject, de symbolische verbinding tussen de wijken Heuvel en Princenhage. Op de zijkanten werden plattegronden van beide buurten verwerkt, met daarin tal van demografische wetenswaardigheden over deze wijken.

Zakjes met graszaad vormden de uitnodiging voor de onthulling. De jongste wijkbewoners “zaaiden het kunstwerk in”, enkele dagen vóór plaatsing.

Op de dag van de onthulling zagen alle bewoners uit de twee wijken het resultaat van hun bijdrage. Met het enthousiasme dat inmiddels was gewekt, werd een buurtfeest georganiseerd rondom de nieuwe Public Lawnge.

Furniture made from construction waste

With the demolition of buildings, roads and neighborhoods, a piece of history gets lost. “What once was”, makes way for new constructions. Lawnge aims to keep these memories alive with the Concrete Lawnge, street furniture which is partially composed of construction waste.

Concrete LawngeUnder construction

Asphalt, concrete and stone rubble are the main raw ingredients used in the creation of Concrete Lawnge. In collaboration with Holcim Lawnge is developing the ultra strong piece of eco-furniture for use in public spaces.

A choice can be made from various types of concrete, colors and textures, meaning the Concrete Lawnge can be delivered in several designs. Lawnge Concrete is a new piece of furniture created from scrap and construction material and serves as a visible reminder of that which once stood on that particular spot.

The first units will be placed during the Floriade in 2012.

Creative Projects

Lawnge likes to participate in special projects: Lawnge

experiments with and conducts research into concept,

shape and material. The experimental approach can

lead to new insights. Lawnge is therefore receptive to

artists.
