Laying Lincoln Down is a graphic novel series which follows the days after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and the fifteen-day funeral train journey from Washington to Springfield, Illinois, told from the vantage point of his embalmer, Harry Cattell. The “1861” installation of the series is forthcoming in 2013 from Wicker Park Press (Chicago). The success of the project to this point is due in large part to the assistance of the Albert P. Weisman Award.
