MAY 2015 London Bridge Amateur Radio Association LBARA LOOKS FOR NEW HAMS AT THE BASSMASTERS FISHING TOURNAMENT Charlie Kotan, K0TAN, set up a display at the Bass Masters Fishing Tournament held on May 9th and 10th to recruit new hams and introduce current hams to LBARA. On Saturday he was joined by Bob Ideker, KB5VUH, Russ Nyblom, K7RUS, Doug Tebo, K9DLT, and Mary Tebo, K7HAV. Bob worked the crowd and demonstrated Echolink while Doug and Mary engaged passers by. Joe Mer- rill, KF7RNT, Peter Van Baggen, VA7RI, and Tim Lotspeich, KX7P, stopped by along with several other hams to say hello. On Sunday, Doug and Mary came back to help out. It was fun until the wind kicked up, so they packed up and left in mid afternoon. All this work resulted in some hams who may join LBARA and some folks interested in getting their li- cense. LBARA LOOKS FOR NEW HAMS AT THE

BASSMASTERS FISHING TOURNAMENT

Charlie Kotan, K0TAN, set up a display at the Bass Masters Fishing Tournament

Field Day At The Paul Bunyan

Amateur Radio Club, Bemidji, MN

Here’s a great video (one of a couple of their FD videos) of this Club’s FD activities. This FD video also

includes a nice interview of AA7BQ, the President and Founder of QRZ.COM. Most of you have used

QRZ for ham radio information on QSL routes, individual ham station web pages, equipment sales,

and so much more. Wild weather at the FD site, but a very interesting look at the QRZ site.

MEET YOUR BOARD MEMBERS

Linda Martin-Hunt

Secretary

Retired. Previously employed by Toyota Tech-

nical Center in Torrance, CA, as a computer net-

work and telecommunications administrator.

Served as professor of Computer Information

Science at Palo Verde College in Blythe, CA.

Graduated from University of California, Irvine

with Bachelors and Masters of Business Admin-

istration degrees.

Linda holds the General call of W7LAM. She

was first licensed as KE6ONB in 1994. She uses

a Icom 756 Pro 3 into a SteppIR at 50 feet and wire dipoles for 40 and 80 meters. She is a

member of YLRL and enjoys operating on YL nets.

Bruce Hunt

Board of Directors

Bruce Hunt, N6BRH, was first licensed in 1994 as KE6MZK. He was raised and lived in

the Orange County, California area. Bruce attended Cypress College and then a trade school

for Computer Programming. He went to work doing programming and systems design for

various manufacturing and distribution companies. He has worked with very large IBM

Mainframe Computers, large, intermediate and small mini-computers as well as personal

(micro) computers from their inception in the late 1970's and early 1980's to where they are

today.

The main radio is an Icom 7700 and the backup radio is an

Icom 756 Pro III. The amplifier is an Icom PW1 amplifier (1

kW). The antenna system consists of a 3 element SteppIR Yagi

at 48 feet which supports 6 meters through 40 meters as well as

2 center fed dipoles for 40 meters and 80 meters. The Mic is a

Heil PR-781. Ham Radio Deluxe is used for logging and sta-

tion control. His primary interest is chasing DX with 230 enti-

ties confirmed.
