unique level of expertise that reaches beyond instruction to movement education. She is a regular presenter for Balanced Body University, Pilates On Tour, and Pilates Method Alliance. Alicia Head

Alicia Head discovered the Pilates method while rehabilitating a dance injury. She began her education at St. Francis Memorial Hospital’s Dance Medicine division, a pioneer in the Dance Medicine field. Elizabeth Larkham was one of her first teachers and referred her to Marie-José Blom and her teacher training program at Long Beach Dance Conditioning.

Ms. Head completed the Advances in Pilates Technique course in 1995 and, after a year of self-integration, became a faculty member of LBDC.

In 2005, Ms. Head started mentoring new graduates of the LBDC Teacher Training program by starting a Reformer Class for Instructors and was invited to be a master trainer for the LBDC course by Marie-José in 2009. In 2011, Ms. Head travelled to Japan to conduct the first LBDC mat teacher training course in Tokyo. Other guest teaching engagements include the American Ballet Theatre summer intensive in Orange County, the LINES ballet summer intensive and BFA program, and the Orange Coast College Pilates teacher training program guest speaker series. Alicia is also a devotee of the GYROTONIC® EXPANSION SYSTEM and has studied directly under the method’s creator, Juliu Horvath. She is a specialized master trainer for GYROKINESIS® and the Jumping Stretching Board as well as a GYROTONIC® Pre-trainer and holds certifications in all of the specialized equipment. Her continuing education experience also includes GYROTONIC® Level 2, GYROKINESIS® Level 2, and the rehabilitative repertoire as taught by Paul Horvath. Guest teaching engagements have included Singapore and San Francisco as well as the Inner Idea conference in La Quinta, CA.

I lyse Brawer

Ilyse Brawer began her affiliation with Long Beach Dance Conditioning as a client in 1995. Her enthusiasm with the work at LBDC led her to complete the Advances in Pilates Technique Certification course by Marie-José at the LBDC Academy of Movement in 1996. Ilyse has been on staff there since 1997, conducting Mat and Equipment classes, overseeing open studio sessions, and working privately with clients.

By working closely with Marie-José, and attending numerous workshops by renowned master teachers related to her work, Ilyse has fine-tuned and advanced her skills in the field. As such, Ilyse was recruited onto the faculty of the Long Beach Dance Conditioning Teacher Training Certification Course in 2001. She is certified through the advanced level GYROTONIC® EXPANSION SYSTEM since 1997, certified in GYROKINESIS®, and authorized as a GYROTONIC® Pre-Trainer.
