Read It.
Begin your family time together byreading the story of the Empty Tombfrom Luke 24:1-12.
Ask each other what you rememberabout:
WomenTomb
AngelJesus
Fun Fact:At the time that Jesus died,
women cared for a loved ones body after
he or she had died. They would wash thebody and rub it with oils and spices tohelp prevent the smell of decay. Thenthe body was placed in a tomb. This wasusually a rock or cave shelter above theground.
Pray It.
Say this prayer together:Thank you, God for bringing life out of death, joy out of sorrow. Thank you for Jesus and forthe gift of hope and assurance that you arealways working for good. AMEN.
Talk About It.
How does your family celebrate Easter?
The Easter story is an amazing one! What other amazing things do you seeGod doing?
What are some signs of new life that wesee in the springtime when we celebrateEaster?
Tell about funerals you have attended. What sort of service was it? Who wasthere? What was celebrated? What wassaid about Jesus? What did you sing ordo in the service?
Live It.
Work together to create a centerpiece foryour meal table that celebrates Easter
and the new life we have in Christ.Think of signs of new life like Eastereggs and butterflies. How could youfeature the Easter story in yourcenterpiece? A picture or a quote? Whatabout candles or flowers? Createsomething wonderful and lastingmemories!
For younger kids.
Decorate some Easter eggs to celebratethis story. You can dye real eggs or makesome from clay or with paper. Makethem really beautiful - just like the story!
For older kids.
Research Easter customs from othercultures. The web is a great source, andour local or church library probably hassome good resources too. Are there newways to celebrate Easter that your familycould try?
z Family Devotion zWhy do you look for the living among the dead?
He is not here, but has risen.

Teen Devotion
Back when the telegraph was
the fastest method of long-
distance communication, a
young man applied for a job
as a Morse Code operator.
Answering an ad in the
newspaper, he went to the
office address that was listed.
When he arrived, he entered
a large, busy office filled with
noise and clatter, including
the sound of the telegraph in
the background. A sign onthe receptionists counter
instructed job applicants to
fill out a form and wait until
they were summoned to enter
the inner office.
The young man filled out his
form and sat down with the
seven other applicants in the
waiting area. After a few
minutes, the young man
stood up, crossed the room tothe door of the inner office,
and walked right in.
Naturally the other applicants
perked up, wondering what
was going on. They muttered
among themselves that they
hadnt heard any summons
yet. They assumed that the
young man who went into the
office made a mistake and
would be disqualified. Within
a few minutes, however, the
employer escorted the young
man out of the office andsaid to the other applicants,
Gentlemen, thank you very
much for coming, but the job
has just been filled.
The other applicants began
grumbling to each other, and
one spoke up saying, Wait a
minute, I dont understand.
He was the last to come in,
and we never even got a
chance to be interviewed. Yethe got the job. Thats not
fair! The employer said,
Im sorry, but all the time
youve been sitting here, the
telegraph has been ticking
out the following message in
Morse Code: If you
understand this message, then
come right in. The job is
yours. None of you heard it
or understood it. This young
man did. The job is his.
We really do live in a world
where it seems that
everything is just flying so
fast! We wake up barely with
enough time to get ready for
school, grab something fast
for breakfast, and then head
out. We make it to school on
time, go through school,
homework, free time, and
then next thing we know we
are back in bed again. We
have so many distractionsdont we?
Take some time to read the
story in 1 Samuel 3:1-19.
Read it quickly. Then read it
again, this time more slowly.
Samuel in this passage was
sleeping, and heard the Lord.
Eli told him, Go back to
sleep! The Lord Himself
came to call Samuel, and let
him know the there was some
serious business for him to do.
The challenge for us today,
and every day, is to ask
ourselves, are we hearing the
Lord today? Lets make sure
that God has a clear channel
to speak to us, and that we
can also hear His still small
voice because you never
know what He may be calling
YOU to do today!
Adapted from Are you Listening, archivedon Teen Daily Devotional Ministries,
http://tddm.org.
And the Lord came and called as before, Samuel! Samuel! And Samuel
replied, Speak, your servant is listening. 1 Samuel 3:10 NLT
Teens Encounter ChristAt first, I wasn't really sure
what to expect of TEC. I had
heard a few minor things
from a few of my friends who
have attended TEC in the
past. It was also nice to give
up my cell phone for theweekend and to disconnect
from people who were not
there. The people at TEC are
so welcoming, friendly, and
loving. You go into TEC
sticking with the people you
know, but coming out of it
you make new friends. I,
personally, gained a lot of
new friends. Even though it
has been a few months, we
still keep in touch. TEC also
allowed me to get closer to
friends I already knew fromother church events and my
youth group. The main
reason TEC inspired me was
because it allowed me to
deepen my relationship with
Jesus Christ. To me, that
means growing in my faith
and becoming closer with
Him through a series of
activities and experiences at
TEC.
The motto I learned from
TEC, that I still use everyday,
is: PARTICIPATE, DONT
ANTIPICATE.
I hope if you didnt go to
TEC, you will consider going
on the next weekend. It will
change the way you view your
faith and your life!

We are doing some awesome things in Children & Youth Ministries at LCR, but we need lots of help! There are many
different ways that you can get involved, please consider serving in these roles so that we can keep pushing ahead with
Children & Youth Ministries.
CHILDREN &YOUTH MINISTRY TEAMThe Ministry Team is the visionary team behind Children & Youth Ministry at LCR. We will be having an
informative breakfast on May 8 from 9-11am in the Gathering Room. If you are interested in possibly serving in
leadership in Children & Youth Ministry, please consider attending this breakfast!
SUNDAY SCHOOL SMALL GROUP LEADERSBeginning in the Fall, we will use lectionary-based curriculum for all Sunday school classes. Children ages 2 - 6th
grade will continue using the Spark curriculum and we are searching for a comparable curriculum for our 7th-12th
graders. Ask your kids or our teachers about Spark - theyll give you awesome reviews!
We will begin to think of our Sunday school classes as small groups and are looking to increase the number of faithful
adults we have involved in leading those small groups. We would love to have 4 small group leaders for each class, sothat each team can rotate the Sundays they lead according to their own schedules. We hope this will allow some of
you who cant commit to every Sunday to serve as small group leaders for our children & youth! We are looking for
leaders for:
Ages 2-3 (2 more leaders needed)
Ages 4-5 (2 more leaders needed)
1st-2nd grade (3 more leaders needed)
3rd-4th grade (4 more leaders needed)
5th & 6th grade (2 more leaders needed)
7th & 8th grade (2 more leaders needed)
9th-12th grade (3 more leaders needed)
YOUTH SMALL GROUP LEADERMiddle School & High SchoolWe need 6-8 faithful and dedicated adults to commit to hanging out with youth and serving as small group facilitators on
Wednesday evenings! We will begin each Wednesday evening at 6:30pm in large group worship with both middle
school and high school youth. After worship, we will break out into smaller groups for a variety of topics. Youll be
headed home by 8:00pm. The curriculum for the fall is under development, but if you are passionate about making a
difference in the lives of teenagers (and pre-teenagers) WE NEED YOU!
WOWCHAPERONE!We have over 20 youth who have signed up to participate in Win Our World this summer in Knoxville, but we are
short on adults! We need 2-3 more adults who can take a week out of their summer and travel to Knoxville with us for
what we promise will be a life-changing experience. We leave July 11 and return July 16.
We Need You!
