LDVA Governing Board Meeting Minutes
WednesdayJanuary 23rd 2019
Meeting started at 6:47pm and all members were welcomed by Principal Nadia
Sammarco and Chairperson Luigi Garofalo welcomed all people present and
sent regrets from Mr. Ortona and Ms. Emily.
No additions were made to the agenda and the adoption ofthe agenda was
motioned by Domenic Gaetano, seconded by Cathy Tamburrino, all in favour.
Approval ofthe December 10, 2018 minutes motioned by Diane Cutrone,
seconded by Domenic Gaetano, 13 yes and 4 abstentions.
Business Issues
Approval ofSchool Budget measures (see attached on page 3)
Consultation: Educational Project (see attached on Separate page)
Reports
Principal's Report: Anti bullying week took place and the students received a
visit from an Olympic athlete Nicolas Macrozonaris. Different workshops took
place from Pre-K to Gr 6, and the week ended with spectacular performancesin "LDVA'S GOTTALENT" show.
Force 4 TV came to the school to film capsules for their upcoming episodes.
The school received many compliments about our students, school and staff
fromourvisitors.
Winter camp for 6r 6 will be February 4th to 6th, 53 students are attending and
16will notattend.
Staff appreciation week taking place week of Feb 11th.
On February 14th students from Coronation School will be coming and
performing with steel pan drums.
Pre-k and sibling registration taking place week ofJanuary 28th, week of Feb 4th
is regular registration.
Vice Principal's Report: School is very active on social media, parents given the
school compliments from viewing and learning about the school through
social media.
Teacher's Report: Pur & Simple production starting soon, would like more
orders so they are extending order limit.
Kindergarten students will be celebrating 100 days of school on February 15th.
Regional Delegate Report: attached
Home and School Report: Cookie Dough raised $3259.00, Bake Sale $821.00,
2 dress down days $643.00 each, bagels $1350 (November and December) and
$444 for January. Our comedy night is on March 30th at Plaza Vogue- tickets
beingsold soon.
Home and School will be hosting staff appreciation and will be raising funds to
assist in library makeover.

RESOLUTION
MEES MESURES 2018-2019:
Monies Dedicated and Protected for Decentralization to Schools
WHEREAS the Ministèrede l'Éducationet de l'Enseignementsupérieur(MEES) allocated to the
English Montreal School Board (EMSB) various financial resources related to Dedicated and
Protected Measures, as defined in the amended Operating Budgetary Rulesforthe 2018-2019
schoolyear;
WHEREAS the EMSB uses some ofthese financial resources to provide direct services to the
schools, as per the Ministry's guidelines and in accordance with their intended purpose;
WHEREAS the EMSB decentralized the majority of these financial resources to our school for
their intended purpose, in accordance with the Ministry's guidelines;
WHEREAS our school acknowtedges that the funds allocated by the MEES as decentralized by
the EMSB, were used for their intended purpose, as per the Ministry's guidelines;
IT WAS RESOLVED and APPROVED that the Governing Board of Leonardo da Vinci Academy
confirms that the financial resources allocated by the English Montreal School Board (EMSB),related to the MEES' Dedicated and Protected Measures, as per the attached summary, in the
total amount of $100 771 00, were allocated to the school in accordance with their intended
purpose and as defined in the amended Operating Budgetary rules for the 2018-2019 school
year.
