• To form the conditional tense use the

infinitive (-er, -ir, -re) form of the verb.

• Drop the -e off of -re verbs.

Add the endings:

je -ais nous -ions

tu -ais vous -iez

il/elle -ait ils/elles -aient

The condition simple refers to things

that would happen and translates to

“WOULD”

EX:

Si j'avais l'argent, je visiterais la France.

If I had money, I would visit France.

être = ser (would be)

faire = fer (would make/do)

avoir = aur (would have)

vouloir = voudr (would like)

pouvoir = pourr (would be able to)

devoir = devr (would have to)
