MOHSAIC DESCRIPTION
•(MOHSAIC) Missouri Health Strategic Architecture and InformationCooperative
•Transactional application that provides a centralized and integrated database
•It is a .Net application with an Oracle backend•Data model for this surveillance system is compliant with NEDSS and PHIN standards
•Allows entry, storage and retrieval of epidemiological information of interest to public health in a centralized database through the department’s secure wide area network (WAN)
•Replaces current multiple systems used for surveillance
MOHSAIC Description (cont.)
• Export of required data to CDC and other entities in a format consistent with national standards and/or local requirements
• Population-based registry containing a record for all children born in Missouri since January 1, 1994
• All services the child receives will be available for cross-reference and assurance of data quality
• Automatic interface with Department of Social Services Medicaid registry for eligibility and access to additional information.
MOHSAIC Description (cont.)
• Data entry utilizing electronic import from laboratories or manual data entry
• Provides statewide access to child and address information to assist in case management and risk assessment activities with appropriate security safeguards
• Addresses verified and standardized using the Sagent geocoder
• Linkage with Office of Lead Licensing and Accreditation to register and monitor abatement projects

FUTURE DIRECTIONS
• Initial implementation completed in August 2004.• All STELLAR sites converted to MOHSAIC by
Fall, 2005• ABLES and other Environmental Conditions, such
as heavy metals, carbon monoxide poisoning and hypo and hyperthermia will be incorporated in the integrated application to facilitate data exchange and linkage projects.
