Christmas Bank Holidays / Time Off In Lieu
I am a LTFTT on salary point 03. I work 24 hours per week work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week. How is my
annual leave and bank holiday entitlement calculated?
You are entitled to 19 days annual leave (inclusive of statutory days) and where there are 8 bank holidays in the leave year
you are entitled to 5 bank holidays.
The LET advise, as you do not usually work on Bank Holidays which fall at the beginning of the week, you may find it helpful
to add your annual leave entitlement (inclusive of statutory days) to your entitlement of 5 bank holidays and then make the
appropriate total Bank Holiday (those that fall on the days you work) deduction.
Eg 19 + 5 = 24 days – no of bank holidays that fall on your working days = leave entitlement balance for the year.
Example of Bank Holiday Entitlement for LTFT Trainees
You are reminded, if you are rostered to work, undertake emergency “on-call” or “on standby” duty on a public holiday you will receive a day off in lieu, which must be taken at the earliest available opportunity; in most
circumstances, this should be done within four weeks of the origina public holiday worked.NB: In exceptional circumstances it may prove impossible to take a day off in lieu of a worked public holiday. In
this situation, bearing in mind the needs of the service, a request can be made to the Host Organisation to take a day off in lieu of a public holiday up to four weeks prior to working the public holiday.
Where a zero hours day falls on a public holiday, the public holiday is to be taken and the zero hours day is to be taken at a mutually agreeable time within the rota cycle as agreed by the Host Organisation and yourself.
