FOUR MILE CHURCH 2019

OUR STRATEGY 1. CELEBRATE: We experience intimacy with God as we offer our hearts in worship. 2. CONNECT: We develop genuine friendships, find mutual support, and encourage

one another as we grow in our faith together. 3. CONTRIBUTE: We give our hearts by serving others and carrying God’s mission into our community and around the world. OUR LEADERSHIP We are an elder led body that prayerfully leads and oversees the spiritual direction of the church with these officers executing the responsibilities of their office in unison and on a parity with each other, and with the material care and service of the church being looked after by deacons under the supervision of the elders and lead pastor.

OUR MISSION

God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. We are made in the image of God, to be like Him in character. We are the supreme object of God’s creation and affection. Although we have tremendous potential for good, everyone is marred by an attitude of rebellion toward God called sin. Sin separates people from God. People are created to exist forever. Every person will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation in Christ. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is heaven. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary by miraculous conception, lived a sinless human life, and offered Himself as the perfect and only sufficient sacrifice for the sins of all by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead after three days, demonstrating His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory where He is the only Mediator between God and people, and he will return again to Earth. He will reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Salvation is a gift from God to all people. Men and women can never make up for their sin by self-improvement, good works, or religious activity. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can a person be saved from sin’s penalty. When God begins a saving work in the heart of any person, He gives assurance in His Word that He will continue performing it until the day of its full consummation.

OUR BELIEFS

OUR MISSION

OUR DENOMINATION Today, the ECO is a rapidly-growing Presbyterian denomination that exists to serve the local church and reclaim a sense of covenanted biblical community. We began our partnership with the ECO in 2013.

The ECO’s top four priorities: 1. Lift up the centrality of the gospel. 2. Grow with an emerging generation of leaders. 3. Prioritize a wave of church innovation. 4. Create an atmosphere of relational accountability.

Because God gives man and woman eternal life through Jesus Christ and adopts them as His own, salvation is received and maintained by the grace and power of God—not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives believers the assurance of salvation. No power in the universe can separate God’s children from Him. The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, with the understand-ing of spiritual truth, and with guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily. The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is God’s Word to all. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures are inspired by God and are infallible and inerrant in the original manuscripts. They are the unique, full, and final authority on all matters of faith and practice, and there are no other writings similarly inspired by God. The Scriptures are the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. This church recognizes that it cannot bind the conscience of individual members in areas where the Scriptures are silent. Rather, each believer is to be led in those areas by the Lord, to whom he or she alone is ultimately responsible.

OUR DESIRE The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. There-fore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. [1 Timothy 3:1-7]
