INVESTING IN ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCTS AND TECHNOLOGY

GE is committed to investing in energy efficient and environmentally preferable products and technology. By focusing on three key areas for improvement, we’re laying the groundwork for a new era of lighting development.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY: With so much data in the market place, it’s hard to differentiate which environmental imperatives affect your business. Increasing the energy efficiency of your lighting system can help to significantly reduce your energy bills and overall environmental impact.

LONG LIFE & RELIABILITY: From a maintenance standpoint, product reliability is a core concern for any business decision maker. By increasing your average lighting system life, you’ll effectively reduce regular lighting maintenance as well as the number of lamps made, transported and recycled.

REDUCE, RECOVER & RECYCLING: To facilitate and expand recycling options for our customers, GE has made arrangements with recyclers around the nation that offer recycling services for homeowners, retailers and distributors.

GE is your one-stop resource for lighting products, information and support to help curb your environmental impact and prepare for the future.

• With a history of innovative products including over 950 patents and 600 inventions, GE Lighting’s influence can be found all over.

• GE has been recognized with lighting efficiency awards in every major category, including Fluorescent, Ballasts, Halogen, High Intensity Discharge, and LED.

• We’ve brought over 80 technology engineers to the GE team to lead our product development efforts.

• Since a GE scientist invented the first visible LED in 1962, GE has one of the largest installed bases of white LEDs in the U.S.

“If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves.”

RESHAPING OUR MANUFACTURING FOOTPRINTBringing Manufacturing HomeWe at GE feel a responsibility to help Americans reduce their lighting footprint, which is why we’ve invested $60 million to refit and reopen our lighting plant in Bucyrus, OH.

With support from local, state and federal governments, this plant is fast becoming our global center of excellence for manufacturing high-efficiency, long-life linear fluorescent light bulbs that help conserve energy and reduce energy costs.

As the Bucyrus plant ramps up production to sell made-in-Ohio fluorescent products in global markets, employment is expected to nearly double.
