SB 45Electronic Search Warrants

KRS 455.170 permits the Kentucky Supreme Court to develop a process whereby electronic search warrants may be used.

NOTE: Further action by the Kentucky Supreme Court will be required for Implementation.

SB 66Boating Enforcement

Changes to KRS 235 now require at least reasonable suspicion of a violation of Kentucky law for a boating “stop.”

SB 109Sale of E-Cigarettes

EMERGENCYChanges to KRS 438 that provides that E-

Cigarettes may not be sold or possessed by minors (under 18)

SB 143 Bioptic Driving

Changes to KRS 186 now requires bioptic drivers to operate only vehicles with both left and right outside mirrors.

SB 184Human Trafficking

KRS 529.170 provides that a criminal defendant who alleges that they are a victim of human trafficking may raise that as an affirmative defense in non-violent cases.

SB 200Juveniles

Changes to KRS 158 (school) and KRS 610 (juveniles) relating to school security and to handling juvenile criminal matters and runaways.

Most of this bill relates to juvenile court and donot take effect until next year.

SB 225Voyeurism

Adds the viewing of undergarments not publicly visible to prohibited conduct under KRS 531.090 - Voyeurism

HB 90Juvenile Drivers

KRS 189.999 (Penalties) provides that traffic offenses involving juvenile drivers shall not be prepayable. At least one person who assumed responsibility for the youngdriver must be present in court.

HB 128CCDW / LEOSA

KRS 527.020 permits retired peace officers holding a LEOSA permit to carry at any location an active officer is permitted to carry. KRS 403.754 provides for a temporary CCDW permits for someone with a protective order

HB 218Insurance cards

KRS 304.39-117 provides that paper or electronic insurance proof is only required to be kept in vehicle for 45 days from which the insurance takes effect.

HB 343Dangerous Contraband

KRS 520.010 adds cell phones to the list of items considered to be dangerous contraband in detention facilities.
