LEADERSHIP LESSON 11
SUPER CHURCH 2.0
Leaders are proactive. Leaders are people who get
things done. The Bible tells us to look to the ant as a good
example of leadership. Ants are hard workers and they get
things done. Leaders know how to work hard. They will
set the pace by working harder than everybody else. Lazy
people will never be good leaders. The Bible says that lazy
people will always be poor.
Do things without being told. A good follower knows
hot to follow the direction of a supervisor, but a good
leader does not need anybody to make them work. A
leader is somebody who looks for things that need to be
done and then he just does it. He or she doesn’t have to
wait for someone to tell them what to do.
Make smart decisions. Leaders know how to think for
themselves. They are not afraid to take risks. Followers
are afraid to make decisions because they don’t want to
make a mistake. Followers will always need someone else
to tell tem what to do. A good leader know how to make
decisions and most of the time they make good decisions.
Think Like A LeaderMEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 6:6-8, “Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones...
though they have no prince or ruler to make them work, they labor all summer, gathering food for winter.” (NLT)
BOttOM LinE: Do things without being told.
➤ tO tHE tEACHER:
There are three
points to this lesson:
1. Leaders are
proactive.

3. Leaders make

TheAdventuresof theMasked HeroLeadership: Episode #11
➤ tO tHE KiDS:• So the League found
their way to the Stinger’s Secret Lair, but nobody had a plan.
• They were all waiting for the Masked Hero to tell them what to do, but he wasn’t around.
• Who stepped up and came up with a plan?
• Cape Girl decided to take the lead.
• A leader isn’t somebody who has to be told what to do. A leader is somebody who sees a problem and then figures out a way to solve the problem. A leader is a problem solver. A leader knows the right thing to do and does it.
• The Bottom Line this week is, “Do things without being told.”

NTB: I can’t believe it! She did it. She ACTUALLY did it!
Teacher: Who did what?
NTB: My mom cleaned my room, and threw away all of my toys.
Teacher: Were you supposed to clean your room?
NTB: No! She hasn’t told me to clean my room in like six months.
Teacher: You haven’t cleaned your room in six months?
NTB: No. No one told me to.
Teacher: You shouldn’t have to have someone tell you to clean your room.
NTB: Yes, I do. I wont do anything unless someone tells me to do it.
Teacher: That’s ridiculous.
NTB: No, its not.
Teacher: Does your mom tell you to shower? Or change your clothes?
NTB: No.
Teacher: See. And you do both of those things on a regular basis.
NTB: No I don’t.

Teacher: Ugh. I always wondered why you always wore the same shirt.
NTB: Or why I have green hair. I think it’s getting moldy.
Teacher: Ugh… That’s just gross.
NTB: I know. I wish someone would just tell me to take a shower.
Teacher: When you get home, take a shower! And use lots of shampoo.
NTB: Wow! Thanks.
Teacher: Not Too Bright, life is not like a game of “Simon Says.” You can’t just sit around waiting for someone to tell you what to do.
NTB: Why not? It works for me.
Teacher: No, it doesn’t! You have to step up, take charge, and make decisions, otherwise your life will never go anywhere in life.
NTB: Oh, well, I don’t think there is anywhere I need to go. Except, maybe, Hawaii. I hear they have good surfing this time of year.
Teacher: I don’t mean going places like Hawaii. I mean like having dream for your life.
NTB: Oh, I dream every time my mom tells me to go to bed.
Teacher: Not that kind of dream. How do I explain this? Dreams for your life are like goals.
NTB: (Disgusted) Oh, no! I don’t have any goals.
Teacher: Why?
NTB: I can’t stand soccer. Too much running.
Teacher: Isn’t there anything you want to do with your life?
NTB: No.
Teacher: You don’t want to be a singer?

NTB: Uh… I want to go home.
(There is a brief pause as Not Too Bright looks anxiously at the door)
Teacher: What’s wrong?
NTB: I really want to go home.
Teacher: Then why don’t you leave?
NTB: You usually tell me to leave.
Teacher: Oh, Not Too Bright! Just go home!
NTB: Phew! Thanks. I thought I’d never get out of this place.

SUPER CHURCH 2.0OBjECt LESSOn The Mighty Ant!SCRiPtURE REfEREnCE: Proverbs 6:6-11, “Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones.
Learn from their ways and become wise! Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter. But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up? A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.
tAKE HOME POint: Leaders are hard workers.
WHAt YOU nEED: A rubber ant or live ant farm (if your budget allows for it).
OBjECt LESSOn APPLiCAtiOn:
Have an older child read Proverbs 6:6-11 into the microphone.
The Bible tells us that we can learn a lot about leadership by
watching the ant. (Hold up the ant or ant farm.)
What do you think? What can we learn by watching the
ants?
First of all, the mighty ant is a hard worker. He gets up every
morning and he doesn’t even have Starbuck’s to help him
wake up.
The ant doesn’t wait around for somebody to tell him what
to do, he already knows what to do.
Who can tell me what the ant’s job is? That is right. His job is
to gather food for winter time. Nobody tells him to do it, he
just does it.

LEADERSHIP LESSON 11
SUPER CHURCH 2.0 The Mighty Ant! Object Lesson — continued
It is a good thing if you can do what your leader asks you to do, but great
leaders don’t need to be told what to do.
Great leaders see problems and start to fix the problems.
Great leaders know how to think for themselves. They aren’t afraid to
make decisions. They know how to make decisions and they usually
make smart decisions.
If you learn how to work hard then you will never go hungry. On the
other hand, lazy people will always be poor.
So, take a lesson from the ant.
• Be proactive, don’t wait for somebody to tell you what to do.
• Just do it.
• Work hard and set the pace for others to follow.

SPiRitUAL APPLiCAtiOn:
Leadership involves thinking like a leader. When presented with a choice you can choose
to take the lazy route or the proactive path. Being a leader involves hard work. It is not just
bossing other people around. It is choosing the best direction to take. Many times people
think that being a leader is a title and everyone else does the work. A leader starts early,
finishes late and takes responsibility for the job.
