Manage and analyze data from passengers to understand city supply and rider demand for city buses, including ability to:
Identify bus bottlenecks to remove congestion Track passengers coming on and off buses to understand utilization Monitor the number of passengers using distinct bus lines for route optimization Automate reporting and visualization for faster decision making
Use passenger insight to optimize bus schedules using the current fleet and drive lower operational costs for the city
Gfi deployed TCS’s Intelligent Urban Exchange (IUX) solution to deliver insights that make efficient use of existing resources, enhance public services, and improve bus transportation. In the case of the Belfort PoC, IUX was used to analyze findings across three key criteria including:
Speed of buses
Passenger flow
Number of passengers traveling per kilometer for a particular route
TCS IUX’s highly visual dashboards replaced hand generated reports to provide insight and recommendations that are easy to interpret and act upon
Business Challenge
Solution
Results
”The results of the TCS’s IUX proof of concept were very successful. We optimized the transportation network to realize savings and increase rider satisfaction. We are looking to duplicate the effort to improve additional city services such as water, waste collection and electricity.”
Yannick MonnierRegional Transportation Director
City of Belfort, France Reduced vehicle and operating costs (an annual savings of $250K Euros )
Increased citizen ridership satisfaction
Streamlined visual analysis and evidence based recommendations
Future-proofed the city
Pilot Case Study:
France’s City of Belfort Public Transportation System achieves certainty for bus services with TCS’ IUX
