History
illumia® Light Measurement Systems are designed to minimize spatial distribution sensitivity associated with directional and divergent light sources and provide easy to use systems designed in concert with industry measurement standards.
All systems are certified by our calibration laboratory team with extensive experience in performing application specific calibrations, all of which are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST).
Labsphere’s Spectraflect® sphere coating is a proprietary, high-reflectance coating that is useful over a wide wave-length range. This non-toxic material is near-Lambertian in character and easily applied by spray to any substrate. Spectraflect® is a specially formulated barium sulfate
coating which produces a nearly perfect diffuse reflectance surface. Spectraflect® is generally used as a reflectance coating in the UV-VIS-NIR region and is most effective over the wavelength range from 300 to 2400 nm. The range can be stretched to 185 nm before binder absorption peaks begin to appear.
The coating is opaque with reflectance up to 98% over the wavelength range from 400 to 1100 nm. Spectraflect® is thermally stable to approximately 100°C.
illumia® Light Measurement Systems are easily custom-ized with a choice of three high-speed spectrometer series and a variety of interchangeable light measurement accessories. Achieve spectral results in milliseconds and conform to national standard measurement geometries.

CDS-600 / 610
The highly sensitive CDS-600 and CDS-610 mini CCD Array Spectrometers offer low noise and a broad spectral response with calibrated ranges from 200 to 850 nm or 350 to 1050 nm.
When coupled with a Labsphere integrating sphere, the spectrometers avoid the inherent photometric errors associated with filter-based photometers; data is accurate even for narrow-band light sources such as LEDs, fluorescent lamps, and discharge lamps.
In production, these systems can increase the throughput of quality assurance testing which facilitates improved statistical process control for higher manufacturing consistency and greater product quality.
CDS-1100 / 2100
The CDS-1100 and CDS-2100 are based on the proven Crossed Czerny-Turner spectrograph with an electrically cooled back thinned CCD detector designed for efficient stray-light rejection.
These spectral engines include user activated integrated shutters for real-time dark correction and intuitive software modules for research, development and production.
When calibrated for the application with auxiliary hardware and MtrX-SPEC software, these multi-channel spectral analyzers provide rapid data acquisition for spectroradiometric, photopic, colorimetric, and electrical characteristics of the device under test (DUT).
CDS-3010 / 3030
Labsphere continues to set the standard in developing efficient test and measurement instruments for the lighting and LED industries with the introduction of the CDS-30x0 High Speed CCD array spectrometer series.
This best in class spectrometer series is designed to measure critical spectral and optical characteristics of devices with the greatest reliability, speed and accuracy for demanding manufacturing environments.
The fiberoptic connectors easily connect the CDS-30x0 series to a variety of measurement devices for both spectroradiometric and photometric measurement.

LAMPS
Labsphere’s Light Measurement Spheres are avail-able in 10", 20", 40", 65", 76", 3m and 4m. The sphere design complies with IESNA LM-78, LM-79 and LM-80 standards to deliver accurate and reproducible measurements.
The near lambertian properties of the sphere’s interior coating, Spectraflect®, provides a uniform dispersion of light that integrates and reduces hotspots better than any other sphere coating available. Spectraflect® exhibits reflectance values up to 98% and is spectrally flat throughout the visible spectrum, therefore providing higher optical efficiency for low lumen lamps.
The three meter lamp measurement integrating sphere accommodates light sources positioned base up, base-down or longitudinally to easily and efficiently measure virtually any lamp type, including fluorescent up to 2 meter in length. The
design also allows for forward and partial flux measurement of test sources that are board-mounted or heat-sinked.
The large sphere better integrates light for more reliable testing of a device’s photometric and colorimetric performance with measurements of Total Spectral Flux, Luminous Flux, Correlated Color Temperature (CCT), Color Rendering Index and Chromaticity.
LM-79: Select sphere size
Omnidirectional - area of the light source not larger than 2% of your sphere.2Pi measurement - opening of sphere should be less than 1/3 of the sphere diameter.Tubular - the size of the light source should be less than 2/3 of sphere diameter.
Auxiliary Lamps for Absorption Correction Industry standards and Labsphere recommend applying absorption correction techniques Self-absorption correc-tion is critical, since the physical size and shape of SSL products and lamps under test are typically very different from the reference lamp size and shape. The use of an absorption correction lamp can correct for self-absorption errors.
Lamp assemblies mount onto a Labsphere 1-inch port frame and auxiliary lamp port on our Light Measurement Spheres with no modifications required.
Calibrated Lamp StandardsLabsphere’s Total Spectral and Total Lumi-nous Flux Lamp Standards are selected for their stability and reproducibility. Each lamp has
been carefully screened, seasoned and calibrated at our Optical Calibration Laboratory under the guidelines recommended by the IESNA (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America) to provide the highest degree of accuracy. A calibration certificate verifying traceability
to NIST is provided with each lamp.
Calibrated Forward Flux Standards Labsphere’s Lamp Standards of Total Spectral Flux provide an exceptional artifact for cali-brating integrating sphere spectrometers for total spectral radiant flux responsivity from 350 to 1050 nm. Labsphere’s Lamp Standards
of Forward Spectral Flux are selected for their stability and reproducibility. The selected lamps
are then calibrated directly to the NIST lumen, for a calibration result you can rely on.
