Exercises: Be more descriptive to add zing to your language
Replace the word ‘nice’ in the following paragraph with suitable
adjectives of description. Write your answers above each occurrence of
‘nice’.
“What a nice holiday you must have had!” said Sue. “Oh yes,” said Roy,
“I had a nice time wandering in the shopping areas of Honk Kong. They
do have very nice little shops there with nice wares for sale. The people
there were also very nice. They speak nicely to you all the time. Not
many people would be so nice to tourists, especially when tourists are
clearly not interested in buying anything. The weather was also very
nice. It was not as hot as Singapore. I liked the change in climate. It was
a nice change. But what I like best of all was the food. It was very nice.”
