Teaching Colors

• Teach colors through computer programs such as an elaborate PowerPoint. Pictures on every slide of every day things of the same color and shapes.

• Using all the animations that it includes to attract the children’s attention.

• The colors should be shown as they would be in the real world.

• Use the basic names for colors like red, green, blue, and so on. Saying blue-green or orange-red may be too confusing for the kids. (http://education.more4kids.info/69/tips-for-teaching-colors/)

• Another form of technology that can be used to teach the children their shapes and colors is television. The cartoons the kids watch every day have different shapes and colors that can be used to incorporate a fun activity with a lesson. They watch these every day and so it will be easier for them to remember.

• Kids also learn colors through food. Foods come in a variety of vibrant colors. When your child asks for something to eat, tell them the color of what they are eating. Some varieties of foods, like apples and peppers, come in many colors, which also teaches the kids that objects can have more than one color.. Other Games and Activities:

• To teach the children there are other fun games and activities that can be used to teach them the colors and shapes. For example, they can find the colors around the house while playing a scavenger game. The importance of color recognition will become important when they learn about stop signs and other meanings for colors. (http://education.more4kids.info/69/tips-for-teaching-colors/)
