Co-Chairs

Debbie and Luke chaired the meeting.

1. Introductions and Apologies

Debbie welcomed everyone to the meeting and said

thank you for coming. Everyone introduced themselves.

2. Minutes of the last meeting

We looked at the minutes of the last meeting

to make sure they were right and to make

sure jobs had been done.

Alun to send future procurement dates to

Poojanum to share with partnership board

members.

Jason said the Moving On Forum is run by

Children’s Services. Jason to set up a meeting with

Children’s Services and Carrie Ann.

Avril to send concerns about Queen Elizabeth

Hospital to Alun and John A.

3. MP Updates

What the MPs have been

doing since the last

meeting:

MP Surgery – Shooters Hill College

The MPs said that there had

been a surgery at Shooters Hill

College in April.

MPs spoke to 26 young people

at the college.

MP Surgery – Charlton Park Academy

The MPs said that there had

been a surgery at Charlton

Park Academy in June.

MPs spoke to 10 students.

Training

MPs said that they had had Sign

Language Training and Equalities

Training to help them do their jobs

well.

London Regional Forum

Lana, Debbie, Carrie Ann and

Lorraine went to the London

Regional Forum meeting on the 10th

April.

Lana was the co chair as Karen is

unwell.

There was an election for the London

Regional Reps.

Carrie Ann from Greenwich and

Richard form Southwark were

elected as co chairs.

National Forum

Carrie Ann went to the National

Forum meeting in Telford in June.

MP Sadiq Khan visit

The MP Sadiq Khan visited the MPs

to find out about Greenwich

People’s Parliament.

TfL Big Day Network Meeting

Robert went to the TfL Big Day

Network meeting. He found out

that in the future all ticket offices

will close. There will be staff in Hi

Viz jackets on the platforms that

can help with tickets and

information.

There is a Travel Support Card

that you can get to show staff

you might need help.

Learning Disability Strategic Network

In July Carrie Ann went to a

meeting at the London Councils

offices. The meeting was to set

up the Learning Disability

Strategic Network. The network

wants to make things better for

people with a learning disability

across London and help London

Boroughs work together and

learn from each other.

The meeting was chaired by

Sean McLaughlin from London

ADASS and Stephan Brusch from

NHS England (London).

Winterbourne View Never Again

In June the MPs went to an

event called Winterbourne View

Never Again. The event was

about advocacy in Assessment

and Treatment Units. At the end

of the day Tristan Brice from the

London Social Care partnership gave a talk.

Citizen Forum Feedback

The MPs had held 2 Citizen Forums since the

last partnership board:

11th June 2014

In March there were 3 activities:

In June there were 4 activities:

1. The Benefits Workshop

2. The Transport ‘Bus’ Corner

3. The Housing Corner

4. Feedback about the 5 priorities and the work

groups

Choice and Control

Lana said that she had met up with John in

June and had an update. John said that 368

out of 510 people that want a personal

budget had one.

Lana said that she would still like to talk to people who

have a personal budget.

Lana updated the meeting about the

Sing and Smile Music Group. She said

they now have the funding they need

and have chosen a worker, booked a

room and bought equipment.

Health

Debbie told the Partnership Board about the

meeting with the pharmacists. She said

there will be a card for people with a

learning disability that they can show to the

chemist if they need extra help.

Debbie said that the health sub group are looking at the

work plan.

Debbie said she would be holding a focus

group about Black Books – Personal Health

Profiles to find out what people think of

them.

Alun said that the Big Health Check Up Day is

on the 21st October and the Pharmacy Card

wil be launched.

Moving On

Carrie Ann said that since the last

partnership board meeting she has met

with John Fox 3 times to talk about Moving

On.

Carrie Ann said she still thought the Moving On Forum was

a good idea. She had spoken to young people at

Shooters Hill College and Charlton Park Academy and

they all liked the idea of the Moving On Forum too.

Jobs to do and who will do them

Jason said the Moving On Forum is run by

Children’s Services. Jason to set up a meeting with

Children’s Services and Carrie Ann.

John said that some nurses will be joining the

Transition Team. John said there will be events

for Parents and Carers in October.

Jobs

Lorraine said that she had met up with Jason

and looked at the Jobs Plan. There is a new

work plan for jobs and Jason is going to set

up the jobs subgroup.

Lorraine said that she ran a jobs workshop at the Citizen

Forum.

Help to find out the pay and what the job is about.

Help to plan how to get to the job – which bus.

Help to choose the right job.

Help to look on the Internet and newspaper.

Choosing what to wear for the interview.

Filing out application forms.

Jason said that funding for new services will

start in April.

Jason said that GLLaB will be invited to the

Jobs Sub Group.

Housing

Eveline said that there had been a vote to choose which

assistant MP would stand in for Karen, as she is still unwell.

It was a draw so Eveline and Robert

will share the job.

At the Citizen Forum Eveline and Robert talked to people

about Housing.

Jason said that new flats are being built but

that Cooper Court is not going ahead.

5. Carers Report

Avril and Sue have been to 2 Carers Centre meetings.

There will be a new venue at The Stables at Charlton

House for social activities for carers.

Mencap are part of a bid for a Carer Peer Support

Group.

There was a meeting for carers at Woolwich Dockyard

to find out about the changes.

People are worried about transport with the changes to

day services.

Turning Pages will be difficult to adapt to have an

accessible personal care area.

Kevin and Claire are looking at possible venues for

community bases.

There will be more meetings at Woolwich Dockyard to

talk to service users, carers and professionals about the

changes.

New Activities:

Avril said that the tricycles at Corelli College are very

successful.

Avril said they would like an update from Bernard on the

Horticultural Centre and the Equestrian Centre.

The carers’ reps fed back that there was a good event

at Horn Park led by Ben Quilter a Sports Development

Officer – This might lead to good opportunities in the

future.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital:

Avril said that Steve Hardy has

been working with Queen

Elizabeth Hospital. There is a plan

to write a protocol (rules) so that

people have a better experience

using Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

There should be a recliner chair available for carers who

have to stay at the hospital.

6. Keeping People Safe

Tricia gave an update from the Safeguarding Team:

Training:

The Safeguarding Team is delivering training

to professionals. Tricia asked if any of the MPs

would like to share their experiences and be

involved in delivering training.

Team

There will be some staff changes in the team. Adverts will

be out soon.

Deprivation of Liberty (DOLS)

A change in the law means that lots of people with a

learning disability living in care homes need to be

assessed to make sure that they being treated well. The

Safeguarding Team has assessed about 140 people.

Poster Campaign

The Stop Abuse poster campaign was

launched in the summer. There will be

changes to the website and it will be more

accessible.

Workshops

The Safeguarding Team ran workshops about Keeping

Safe and Healthy Relationships. People found them really

useful.

Newsletter (Bulletins)

The Safeguarding Team has a newsletter that is sent out 3

times a year. There is information about the law, domestic

violence, forced marriage and people with a learning

disability.

7. Working Groups Future

Luke said that we need to have a planning

day to look at making the Partnership

Board work better and decide on the

Working Groups.

8. Anything Else

Anita said that Steve will be

leaving Advocacy in Greenwich

on the 19th September. There will

be a drop in for coffee and cakes

in the office in the afternoon.

Winterbourne View Event

Lorraine and Robert B

reported on a meeting

they had been to in

London on the 15th July

about Winterbourne

View.

The meeting was for professionals and people with a

learning disability but there were only people with a

learning disability from Greenwich and Croydon.

Robert said that Dimensions Care had spoken about how

they choose new staff. Service users choose the staff and

staff are not recruited until service users are happy.

Dimensions Care also makes sure they involve the whole

family in people’s care.

The next Partnership Board meeting will be:
